I know I have my tin foil hat on but its crazy playing with lexx. He will call 3 barrels or induce, snap off with 5th nut flush. Then will tank call 2nd nut flush on the river. I know I'm probably going crazy but he only plays about 100 hands at a time and never loses and if he does its a small amount.

fire the ump, wasn't even close. What possibly was going through his mind?

I can't believe how composed Galaragga was, his one chance at history going up in flames by a terrible call.

Yea that is just sickening. I feel so bad for Galaragga. He did handle it classy though. Go Tigs!

espn article says ump admitted afterwards he ****ed up and feels awful about it, says he would have been a lot less classy if he were in galaragga's shoes. doesn't make the size of the mistake any smaller but at least he's being a man about it.

umps been around for awhile, its a unfortunate this will most likely define his career.

maybe this will lead to a reply system in baseball, which would be long over due imo

Also galaragga handled it extremely well

Galaragga accomplished 3 things tonight:

1. He threw a perfect game in everyone's eyes (just not in the record book)
2. He showed himself to be a true class act (not a roid-pumping bonus baby that argues every call and comes out of a game with a hang nail).
3. He accelerated the process of bringing replay to baseball immeasurably.

It's crazy they have held out on this for so long. Seems simple to me - each team gets x challenges per 9 innings, anything is reviewable except for balls and strikes.

The ump should definitely not be fired for this. That is ridiculous. He made a mistake (a big one), but his record over many years in the bigs is what he should be judged on.

Replay in baseball is finally coming around. I haven't always been sold on it (the human element of umps is important), but as long as they keep balls and strikes out of it, its cool. If there is even talk about doing it with pitching it will really hurt the game IMO.

why? who cares about umps?

I'd rather just see everything called by computers when the technology is there

GO TIGERS!!!!!

and wow stupid call. i am kind of an outsider when it comes to baseball but it seems to me that a part of the game is getting away with as much as you can. i actually like this aspect of baseball, it isnt cheating if you dont get caught. it seems a replay would sort of diminish this thought process in baseball. also replays make games much more difficult to fix. still though i have seen some play reviews and i am just thinking usually outloud "OMFG WTF YOU STUPID PIECE OF **** HOW CAN THAT BE ENOUGH TO OVERTURN THAT ****ING CALL WHEN 5 MINUTES AGO YOU DIDNT OVER TURN THAT OMFG YOU STUPID ****ING PIECE OF **** I WILL STAB YOU IN THE ****ING FACE UNTIL YOU BLEED KNIVES!!!!!" lions games can be stressful. lost train of thought, oh yes, the mob and vegas have a lot more to do with games than we think. oh and i like cheating in baseball because i feel it has always been a part of the game. like HEM, or SSing.

I'm not trying to be some ridiculous purist or whatever, but its been part of the game for a long time. Specifically, with balls and strikes, it really is just how the game is played. Umps don't all call the exact same strike zone every time, and it adds an extra element. If the ump is calling pitches slightly off the plate all game, the hitters know they have to fight those pitches off and the pitchers know they can attack that part of the zone as they will get the calls.

Also, this is a bit of a silly argument, but when players scream at umps and managers come out to yell and get thrown out of the game it adds excitement. Even just adding replay over using computers allows for some of this as there is the drama of watching the replay on TV and waiting for the umps to review and (hopefully) make the right call.

There have been some really bad calls in important situations in the last couple years, so things will definitely change. As long as they don't go too far, I'm happy with it.
