7K for a plane ticket, wtf? Other than that all seems standard. Paranoia is not a friend you want to bring with you when travelling.

if you're tall, flying business is (almost) worth paying 5-8 times the price imo.

problem is that you can never go back to economy on any flight over ~4hrs cuz you hate it even more.

All 4 for a 12 hour private flight.... would be + EV imo

7k seems cheap for vancouver to sydney if its like 15 hours. Its worth it if the plane is packed, but its so tilting to pay for premium economy/1st and then see the flight is half empty and you coulda had a row all to yourself for $500.
Havent worked it out, but it seems using miles to upgrade is the best use of them. I know with me it was an extra $300 for 1st plus 25k miles on virgin for 12 hour flight.

Picking seats is pretty key too if youre doing a long haul economy- check this site out: seatguru.com- tells you the best seats on each plane.

Other tips are if the plane is in a 3-4-3 seat combo, pick a seat in the aisle on the middle 4 near the back. These are the most unpopular seats and most people travel in parties of 2, so you have a better chance of having an empty seat next to you(im 4/5 in this). Also, if you like the aisle its better than the 3, as if you do get ul and have someone next to you, only 1 person bothers you to get up.

Also if you're travelling as a 2, pick one of the 3s and take the aisle and window-if someone happens to get put in the middle, just give them the choice of aisle or window and everyones happy!

Yes, many times. And i almost died last time when i flew to Bangkok. I sat next to the door and it was stone cold, very crowded with a mother and her ~2 year old child next to me and i was sick with a bad stomach and couldnt eat or drink anything for +15 hours.

Still i wouldnt pay $7k for anything less than this:

Long haul economy is brutal, still not sure I can justify 7k though. Think I would have to be v rich (>$4mm worth). Also, that business class looks sick

Idk about the whole economy/business thing, Im fairly tall and yes its not a lot of space but I developed some tactics over time. For short flights (< 5 hours) I just try to get emergency seats and it works most of the time. For long ones I just book night flights so kids sleep and dont cry. Then I get decently drunk at the airport and a lot more drunk on the plane, sleep 10 hours and gg.

yea pre drinking before getting on the plane is a must when flying 5+ hrs in economy, also not sleeping night before works well if your confident you can stay awake until your on the plane lol
