God you have no clue how dumb u are. ****ing troll.

-I sold over 50% so that's 370~ not 800, I still have over 220k of that stuck with the IRS.
-I was down over maybe 200k in tourneys
-And I was/am running 400BI/~100k below ev in 2 years playing fcin 1/2 so get lost. Beside having a worthless piece gold of in my drawer. Because you win a 500 people side event now I lost my right to whine about variance ? gtfo seriously. Instead of losing all this precious time trolling, you should play while the games are still good / or work on your game imo.

what's the definition of the long run these days, I remember when it was 50,000 hands (lol) because Ozzy87 said so, paging Stinky Pete!

I also remember when I was so sure that poker treated me different than everybody else and nobody knew how bad I ran.......

I use to think it was 1000 hands because that was the trial limit for poker tracker back in the days. Back then 1000 hands took forever to achieve and was a solid sample lol

Even so, everyone is capable of becoming aware enough of the dynamic to stop chasing the dragon and lose interest in worrying about the extremes of variance. It's like going sailing and complaining about the wind changing direction. It is an obsession, and it can be dropped. The question is whether you really prefer a life without obsessions and compulsions? Once you are aware of what is going on, then you can say "I choose this." Then you have accepted responsibility; and over the years the muttering gradually fades into silence. To each his own
Another great post, your writing on this subject is really elegant and well-put. You are like a poker oracle or something.

I made a very long post on here trying to get at many of the same things, http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/15...-tl-dr-947154/, but I don't think my thoughts and advice in there were nearly as well-articulated as in these two posts. I thought of it when I was playing today, and my emotions stopped rising and fall so much with the wins and losses of pots, and I focused more on just making good decisions.

it depends entirely on your winrate.

if you're a 1bb/100 winner at PLO, the long run is just a myth.

feel better knowing any comp villain would call a river bet a decent percentage(over 50%).but i feel ur questioning the turn play, which is so image dependant anyway. just one of those hands i guess.

in other news: liked the post about plo variance bla bla bla, standard stuff. but well written post, and nicely put

I feel that way about the entire poker world. Played 8 years now and I've never even experienced a heater of more than a week or two. A lot of expert coin flippers as taleb would say.

what hand sample was that. I always laugh when i read **** like that. I mean i was very guilty of this too at times, but it is so ridicilous. I see these people posting how they run 100bi under ev over 300k hands. That is about 3bb/100 under ev. If you lost because you couldnt get that 3bb then you might as well shoot yourself in the head, because playing plo with that winrate seems like hell to me. I mean who plays this game without having a 10bb/100 edge at least. Otherwhise the variance just seems crazy. AAnd if you run sims you will see that running bad (not just allin ev im tlkaing about here) is insanely unlikely over like a million hands with a nice expected (not realized) winrate. So it is probably a allin ev freak thing combined with playing bad (and the palying bad part the most likely reason).

I mean as soon as i get into that whine state of mind im not playing good anymore. Sometimes i cant even figure out what the hell went wrong in a session, but i sure as hell know i wasnt on my game. Everytime you didnt stay completly calm and rational, you werent playing your best. period. Even tho you think you did.

I've found that people with a history of bad results, especially with respect to all-in EV, play a generally weaker game filled with a slow-burning tilt which, without making of them frequent monkeys, probably takes at least 3-5bb off their win-rate. [To be taken as it may be.]
