Just started playing some 2/4 HU PLO like 2 months ago or something (less then 25k hands). This is my first experience with the lolswongs

This hand was against a massive fish. 2400 of the money in play was his. I ended up tilt quitting him when he had 4400 or so

Board:
BB: $1*441,00
Button: $1*464,00

Dealt to BB 9 6 K K

Pre-flop:
Button raises to $12,00, BB raises to $36,00, Button calls $24,00

Flop: ($78,00) 8 K 7 (2 Players)
BB bets $60,00, Button calls $60,00

Turn: ($198,00) Q (2 Players)

there was some kind of order in which you were supposed to go with the math functions, i remember i learned it in 7th grade or so and it has since left me forever

I also think the answer is 2. If it was supposed to be 288 it'll be written like 48(9+3)/2. When it is 48/2(9+3) it is obvious that (9+3) part is under the denominator, so it's not (48/2)*(9+3) but 48/(2(9+3)) which is (48/2)/(9+3). The answer has nothing to do with the order of operations but rather the interpretation of the place of the (9+3) part and saying that people are stupid because they choose one answer or the other is ridiculous. This quizz is irrelevant cause IRL it'll always be written correctly and clear to interpret.

PS. In before 15 pages of math wizzards.

I just don't think it's about how it would be written if someone meant it a particular way. Most likely it's just someone ****ing with people, trying to see what they think is the result for the calculation when written in a way nobody would actually write it. It can also be stated that if it was supposed to be 2, it would be written 48/(2(9+3)).

Probably the thing that makes so many think it is 2 is just what antchev brought up - the denominator. People think it like this:

__48__
2(9+3)

=

__48__
24

=2

I was expecting he was gonna get hit by a truck at the end, kinda disappointing. I guess I watch too much horrors

Just read the equation left to right like a normal person, It's 48 divided by 2 multiplied by the sum of 9 plus 3.

_48_ * (9+3)
2

yeah, and it's an entirely irrelevant, pointless question. when was order of operations the slightest bit important? yeah, it's like the next cog up from addition and multiplication, and it's redundant because all proper mathematical functions make it clear what's going on. i'm not gonna say 'i don't get why people are making a fuss over this'. i get why people are making a fuss over this. it's because they're stupid and bored. stop being stupid and boring.

Well SB plays it bad too imo BB and obv BBs play is horrible but hey he had 29% so maybe he knows something I don't. But you are right apart from that it was reasonable but still it was a few years since I saw a hand like this.

I am quite surprised, really, that AAKQss has 33% there, in the lead. That's the brag, as far as I'm concerned.

lol this is exactly what I was thinking: who cares? I mean, by the time you're even in the first year of university in a pure math program, nobody is actually concerned with values very often anyway...

Probably the reason why people care comes of the surprising outcome that in math - a subject of absolute truth - there is a relatively simple calculation which divides the opinions of the correct answer so evenly.

Still weird how long threads have born of it, though.

I know I made a few bad/tilty plays todays but come on

I'm not used to having 3-4 bad beats happen in a row/simultaneously. It's pretty hard on the heart.

That said I'm really happy with how my 6m game is coming along.
