Are green better than red for some reason or is it just some kind of long term homage to Julia Roberts?
I'd think red would be too juicy to fry well

Sprouts are super underrated on a sandwich. I have no interest in addressing the rest of this ridiculous post.

No idea, but maybe ripe tomatoes just can't survive being fried???

We've fried a bunch of things at home but never tried tomatoes. I've never seen any fried tomatoes other than green on a menu at any restaurants. If your GF gives red tomatoes a shot, let us know how they turn out. Science and all, y'know?

my experience with green tomatoes is a result of the late autumn effort to get anything reasonably edible out of the garden before the first freeze.
the preference is for red ripe, but fried green squeezes out a few more meals from what you grew

Personally not sold on a tomato there, but I'm all over the rest of it!

As you can tell, I have not yet mastered the art of constructing a gyro. But they tasted good!
Gyro meat was from Costco and wife made a really tasty tzatziki sauce.

Highly recommend the meat if you ever see it on the shelf. It was in the refrigerated section near the cheeses, Indian food, etc. Reasonably priced, already seasoned, and it only takes 5 minutes to fry up.

Spoiler:
the high class paper plates were also from Costco

Very nice. I've been tempted to mail order a 10+Lb box before, but never pulled the trigger. Tzatziki is an elite sauce and easy to make, just takes a little bit of time for cucs to strain and flavors to meld.

Ya its definitely pays to make the sauce well ahead of time. She made it the night before and it tasted way better the next day by the time we ate dinner.

Tomorrow is Costco day for me. Here's hoping they have gyro meat! I've never seen it, but I know where you're talking about and that's a section I always skip, so mayyyybe.

“High end” tall burgers that have to be held together with a stick are almost impossible to eat normally.
You can’t just pick them up and stuff them in your mouth, nor can you cut them up.
You have to knock them over and try to reconstitute them by picking up the individual components yourself.

It annoys me that cs3 is always using paper plates.

I'd say a paper plate is part of an authentic gyro experience. Maybe foil, but a bunch of foods come wrapped in foil.

Was in the Florida Keys for the week. Spending tonight in Miami, flight at 6:30 AM tomorrow.

Figured Miami is full of old New Yorkers that enjoy a good delicatessen so found one somewhat close. Not bad but nothing compared to Katz etc. in NY.

Combo corned beef, and pastrami, 10oz for $21. Pretty good quality they tried to upsell lean for an extra buck but wife was like no I want fatty. Rookie mistake? In Texas lean brisket is cheaper.

Oh yeah wife gif the Newman’s Jewban sandwich which includes pulled pork, corned beef, Swiss, coleslaw.

Decent beer.

One of the best things about St. Patricks Day, leftover corned beef means reubens for days.
