I just think of cream gravy as thicker bechamel with butter replaced by meat drippings and milk replaced by cream.

anyone else grow up knowing canned biscuits (think Pillsbury) as wop biscuits?
has nothing do to with Italy and everything to do with wopping them on the counter to open the tube.

I did not know that. But I had wop crescent rolls last night.

I think I recall them being called whop biscuits, as in getting "whopped upside the head."

I don't think I ever heard "wop" until I was in college. If I heard it before that, I had no idea what it meant.

I just don't understand why you'd pay $2-4 extra for a prime-rib brunch if you're not going to eat it.
Borgata Sunday Brunch where I paid $10 in comps for it.

Sometimes I did get the Prime Rib though and did exactly what Mrs. RG does.

I like this recipe, thanks! I think I’ll give it a go.

And for those not aware, WOP stood for without papers.

On a related note, COP stands for constable on patrol.

I think the cop thing is an urban myth

Count me +1 for not loving prime rib. Chicago ribeye 1000x better

I like both Prime Rib and Ribeye, but when they're both cooked properly, both are great.

Prime Rib on a buffet is not good IMO.

Cool. Also recommend the buttermilk version. And while im generally not a fan of shortening, using that with the butter seems to make them a little fluffier.

I thought it was short for Copper, as the badge was made out of copper. At least I thought so. I watched this show about Irish cops in the Bowery during the Civil War called Copper.

The term*copper*was the original, unshortened word, originally used in Britain to mean "someone who captures". In British English, the term cop is recorded (Shorter Oxford Dictionary) in the sense of 'to capture' from 1704, derived from the Latin capere via the Old French caper.

Right. Roasted fat sucks.

No matter how bad they screw it up, there are always good parts. You just need to find them.

I disagree. Any steak that has been sitting at a buffet is not optimal.

Yeah but that's a relatively recent thing.

Cop for police has been around forever.

Has anyone had eggs in red sauce? People have recommended I give it a go. Why not?

Here's the recipe for an Italian version: Eggs in purgatory

ha - I made it 2 days ago - I don't think I'd want the chickpeas in that recipe, but the red onions would be good. I used cherry tomatoes too. Mine tasted good, but eggs got over cooked. I'd like to try it again, but downsize it as it's too much (I had 5 eggs) for one person, and you can't save it.
