I dunno - I pretty much agree that in the 95% of situations that aren't super super super sketchy, being a hot guy makes girls feel like a 90's chick movie - if the guy is ugly it's just creepy

of course the extremes cannot be saved by the 'hotness', but if you've ever watched sappy movies or talked to girls ever, it's clear hot guys have 100000000% more leeway with respect to 'creepiness'

the girls will admit it too

A friend of mine, who is an alcoholic, and his perception of reality is obviously flawed, is extremely touchy feely with strangers, and it drives me nuts. He will make jokes with strangers, and after laughing at his own joke, will touch/rub the shoulder of stranger. Will say crude things to females he doesn't know, holler at them etc.

He insists that I am the one with the flawed perception of his actions being inappropriate, or creepy, because if nobody says anything about his behavior being unacceptable(the victims), then it's okay.

So like Henry17 said, being unable to properly assess a situation and act accordingly pretty much nailed it.

This is spot on obviously. The hotness factor is really just a subset of this comment. Ex. A 2 walks up to a 9 and tries to flirt. This is really just an example of someone not reading a situation properly about how they would be perceived by the 9. Almost everything else in this thread falls under Henry's general framework.

98% of the time the reason unattractive guys hitting on attractive girls get labeled 'creepy' is because the girl signals she isn't interested and he doesn't take the hint. Continuing to flirt after disinterest has been signaled is what gets you labeled 'creepy'.

Being a 4 and trying to hit on an 8 qualifies as not being able to read a situation. She isn't going to be interested in you and you should know that. But ffs if you absolutely must hit on her, go away the first time she shoots you down and don't try it again.

I think it has more to do with an unpleasant intensity of interest than anything else. Basically when a woman says a guy is creepy, she's saying he's a potential rapist. It obviously correlates with unattractiveness because unattractive guys are more likely to be poorly socialized with women and more desperate for attention/response/sex/etc., but there are plenty of 8+ guys that give this vibe off as well.

It's all subjective. Creepy is what a woman says it is. There are, of course, clear-cut cases of what's creepy, like stalking.

Creepy is that uncomfortable feeling a woman gets from a guy. It doesn't matter who the guy is or what's going on, if she's uncomfortable, the guy simply being there makes him creepy.

The people saying attractiveness plays a big role in whether or not a guy is perceived as creepy are spot on.

Are you saying both women and men are equally creeped out, and that all of the things that creep women out are the things that creep men out? If so, that's not true at all. See example of ugly guy approaching hot girl vs hot guy approaching hot girl. Compare that to ugly girl approaching hot guy.
