Not only that, but the dad is in the comfort of his own home. His daughter is NOT crying or screaming or running from the kid. She told a stupid and fatal lie but the dad has to have felt the dominant force whilst staring down at that skinny little kid.
He most definitely did NOT have to draw a gun and end the kids life. If he genuinely was worried or felt threatened at the kid reaching into his pockets he could have and should have ran over and grabbed him and prevented anything happening.

BUT, NAH, lets just shoot him dead, i know the good ol stand your ground will back me up

Guaranteed any massive erection this kid had is gone about two milliseconds after the father bursts in pointing a gun at him.

For reals. Imagine this scenario:

<doorbell rings at 2:00 in the morning.

Father answers. "Who are you?"

"I'm your teenage daughter's b/f. She texted me and asked me to come over for sex!"

Daughter appears.

"Oh Daddy, it's okay. He's my boyfriend. I asked him to come over for sex!"

Father: Oh okay. Carry on you two. And don't ever accuse me of abuse!

All three: "Hahahaha !"

No. Afraid? What if he had been her boyfriend for only a week? Does she really need to rush to tell her father?

And if you don't think teenagers are banging it out after just a week, you're probably mistaken.

This doesn't really matter because the father didn't/couldn't know that the kid did not have a gun.

Lets be really clear here - you are ill equipped to interact with the wider society if you think the scenario plays out like this:

1, father walks in the door because they hear low muffled moans that sound nothing like "help me"
2, upon seeing the two of them on the bed the father asks "who is this, do you know him?"
3, daughter panics and says no
4, the kid stands up, probably half naked, says nothing and proceeds to "reach for something"

Only in America can an execution play out like this with the worlds weakest story and the murderer is charged with nothing.

I blame this incident, as well as the overlying gunloving culture in the Usa, on the Grand Theft Auto video game series

As long as the daughter is confirming the story, there is no way you can convict. It's also up to the grand jury to decide whether or not to charge the father.

When the father is holding the boyfriend at gunpoint, I would say yes, she does need to rush and tell him.

A child knowing they can trust their parents is way more important than sex.
How old is your daughter? You sound pretty idealistic, so I'm guessing toddler. If you expect her to be 100% open with you and your wife, then you'd better not "definitely disapprove" of anything.

Anyway, this was in Texas. Dude heard a noise, investigated it, saw someone in his daughter's room, blasted him, turned on the lights and she's like, "that's the dude I'm banging" and dad is like, "****, my ass is going to prison unless we come up with some bull**** story."

According to the article, the family had recently moved into the neighborhood. Isn't it likely that the b/f, if he was a b/f and not just looking to get some, hadn't yet been introduced to the father? Not because the father is abusive, but because it hadn't gotten that far yet? I didn't introduce girls to my parents in high school, it was never serious enough for that.
