We use to wait for KFC to throw all their leftovers in the dumpster. You can't really describe the joy of driving around with a garbage bag full of KFC.

There's a reason for that.

Personally I would never roll into a place at closing and try to haggle food prices but there are probably bigger sins.
They wouldn't necessarily go to waste, a driver or a kitchen guy in the back might snag them, and I was young and broke so obviously free pizza was awesome. But the point was a couple specific bar people would come in and expect it as a matter of course, looking for half-price, and the slices reheat perfectly fine all day long btw.

Some customers would expect you to make them a slice pie with stuff on it that nobody else would want, just so they could buy a fresh slice.

So I'm going to make a lowfat cheese pizza with artichoke hearts and chicken on whole wheat dough, to sell one $2 slice? We can add toppings to stuff in the display but otherwise order a personal pie or something. Please play ball here lady, else one of the guidos will have to sort-of yell at you and embarrass me in the process.

My grandpa is a little cheap because he's lived his entire life on a relatively low income. One evening he convinced his sister-in-law (whose a little one the dimmer side) to hang the tea bags they used that night on the clothesline so he could use 'em tomorrow. She did and thought nothing of it, haha, it was a complete level.

In a perfect world everything would be available every minute the shop is open, but you have to weigh the cost of that versus paying a little more in labor after closing. LDO you only get so many people asking for soft serve at 10pm in a mall that closes at 11.

I'd give someone a coupon if they made a stink about it or maybe had some disappointed little girl with them, it's good CS to make them happy within reason if they aren't, but generally telling someone the machine is down for cleaning as it's just before closing is good enough. A lot of people have worked in food when they were young and know how it is but there's always a few who expect free **** just because.
Here's my problem with this, as just about everytime this has happened to me, it's been maybe 11pm, but at a 24-hour McDs or BK. I get it's a PITA to wash the machine, but seems ridiculous to me to not have any ice cream available for 12 hours at a 24-hour place. If it said anywhere on the menu that it was only available between x and y hours, then I'd be fine with it, but it's not like it's asking for a Big Mac at 7am, it's soft serve that takes a minute to make, and is it so unreasonable to want soft serve at 2am on a weekend while on the Vegas Strip, drunk?

prob only slightly more unreasonable than wanting a big mac at 6 am on a weekend while on the vegas strip, drunk.

which we all know would be completely impossible for a restaurant to provide -- nearly as impossible as, say, hash browns at 7pm.

(i (sort of) get why mcds won't do this (it clogs up the assembly line) but it sure pisses me off. i would eat a ******ed number of egg mcmuffins if i could get them any ol' time.)

edit: i actually thought i was in the fast food thread so this post is sort of a derail but there are too many parentheses to go back now.

I read somewhere (or someone told me) that the grill and everything have to be kept at different temperatures for breakfast, which is why they can't so breakfasts all day long, but that McDonald's was considering building the capacity into new stores.

a few weeks ago the burger king by me started having the full lunch and dinner menu available during breakfasts hours (24 hour location)

Friend of mine who worked at Best Buy said they saw Gilbert Brown(player for the Green Bay Packers) and try and use an expired $4 off coupon. He argued with the management for about 45 minutes, and they finally let him have it. He had signed a contract for 8 million for three years at the time. Not enough, I guess.

I have generally found that cheapness is not related to finances. It is a lifestyle choice.

Skyline and Gold Star are the two popular brands in Cincinnati. Dozens of restaurants of each all over the area. And you can order frozen or packets online as well.

Steak and Shake restaurants try their own version of chili-spaghetti too but it is completely terrible. Skyline FTW.
We try to make it out to Cinci once every year or two to visit family. Last year we stocked up and bought 72 cans of Skyline chili. We're down to under 20 now. One of our favorite meals. Gonna go make some now in fact. Gotta grate your own sharp cheddar and douse it over it FTW.

Super jealous London.

I need to replenish my cache. My wife hates it, so I can't eat it if she is eating with me, but if she ever is gone when I need to eat, I will tap into that easily. Got 6 cans last time I was in Ohio last summer, got 2 more when a coworker went to Columbus and brought me back some. I've heard it might be available in Phoenix, need to have my mom check out if they have it at Fry's and drive out a ton of it here. Flying back with it from Ohio is a pain. I had a stuffed bag last time and was going to go over the weight limit. 72 cans a year seems like a good amount.

It's actually available around Philly now. One of our friends said they saw it at Wegman's so we scoped it out. They had half a dozen cans on the shelf but I think they wanted something like $4.50 a can for it (I probably still would have bought a few if I was completely out).

I'd be seriously interested in a quote for this. Shipping to Austin, TX. USPS will let you do a large box for $14.65. Not sure how many cans will fit in there:
23-11/16" x 11-3/4" x 3" or 12" x 12" x 5-1/2"
Think the diameter is less than 3 inches, can probably fit 15-20 in there. Think they are about $3 each at the store, say we can fit 20 in there. $75 + whatever you feel is fair for your effort for 20 cans?
