Also read that it's doing well in China and is seen as doing a good job of making Il Duce look like an idiot. They speculate that it will be smuggled into NK very soon.

The Interview would be placed solidly in the did not like rating.
This movie thankfully didnt have the problem of so many similar movies with franco, rogen etc in that they had no idea how to end it. Funny People and This is The End I think are the two biggest examples of the third act just being terrible.

This is not a belief widely shared by critics/mass audiences from what I read after having watched it in the cinema. In fact, quite the opposite.

The Security Ledger quotes Norse Vice President Kurt Stammberger saying that Norse has identified a group of six individuals — in the U.S., Canada, Singapore and Thailand — that it believes carried out the attack, including at least one 10-year employee of SPE who worked in a technical capacity before being laid off in May. Rather than starting from the premise that the Sony hack was a state sponsored attack, Norse researchers worked their investigation like any other criminal matter: starting by looking for individuals with the "means and motive" to do the attack.

HR files leaked in the hack provided the motive part: a massive restructuring in Spring, 2014, in which many longtime SPE employees were laid off. After researching the online footprint of a list of all the individuals who were fired and had the means to be able to access sensitive data on Sony's network, Norse said it identified a handful who expressed anger in social media posts following their firing. They included one former employee — a 10-year SPE veteran who he described as having a "very technical background."

I thought it was pretty darn funny, remember busting out loud laughing a few times, which is more than I can say for most comedies.

Not sure what people were expecting, it was a screwball comedy, not the Godfather.

There's a wide range of quality within the "screwball comedy" genre. I don't think anyone who didn't like it was comparing it to an Oscar winning drama.

Interesting take. I hated the first 20 mins and almost turned it off. From there I was more or less entertained.

I'd agree with this, I felt it was definitely funny enough for the style of movie it was. If others disagree so be it.

The political satire was also pretty fair as well.

The movie makes just as much fun of Americans as it does North Korea.

The Americans in the movie are far more stupid than the North Koreans.

It lampoons the vapid tabloid celebrity obsessed media culture over here, and pokes digs at Americans being ignorant and fat too, just as much as it mocks the trainwreck situation the North Koreans have going on.

I mean this is obvious, but this is exactly what the movie intended to do. Also, I feel like Seth Rogen and James Franco really wanted to make some kind of difference in this world through this movie, just like their characters did with their show.

It's such a meta movie.
