But I will still reply

Well I don't generally listen to albums per se anymore, just random songs by artists. But I'm deep into punk so I can recommend heaps of punk stuff...

Currently on my listening roster are Mad Caddies, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Five Iron Frenzy, OC Supertones, Rx Bandits, Millencolin, Bouncing Souls, Face to Face, The Starting Line, Against Me!, Dropkick Murphys (who's new album is AWESOME), Goldfinger, Jimmy Eat World, Allister, Bodyjar, No Use For A Name, Lagwagon...

New Rise against and a good UK Ska/Punk band Random Hand their new album Seething is believing is very good.

Also liking Your Demise another UK band might be a bit Hatebreedy for some their song Miles Away is best thing they do.

Cerebral Ballzy. One of the guys in the band lives in my building and I've hung out with them a few times. Starting to get more press, believe they're on the road opening for the Black Lips right now.

You don't honestly think most of these are punk bands, do you?

Guess it depends if you count the Fat Mike/Epitaph pop punk stuff as punk really.

skate punk/ska is sort of in the punk category.

Punk rock/crass/etc are not more punk than skate punk.. In fact most dirtbag crass living on the street punks enjoy skate punk and ska as much as any other type of punk.

You realize "skate punk/ska is sort of in the punk category" and "punk rock/crass/etc are not more punk than skate punk" completely contradict each other? Those are the first two sentences of your post. Really?

The Vindictives "Many moods..." is constantly in rotation. Anything by The Queers. Still listen to The Misfits quite a bit.

Feel free to toss out some recommendations as well. Always looking for good bands that I haven't heard, new or old.

Can we come to an agreement that bands like Lag Wagon, Goldfinger, Face to Face, etc. are not punk bands? They don't really even belong in the same category. They play rock music, plain and simple. Though I don't like these types of bands, I don't have anything against them. I just don't want to see another thread about punk music turn into a thread about what bands are on Warped Tour.

I would say they are pop-punk (especially lag wagon) which, like it or not, is a sub genre of punk. Lately for punk rock I've been listening to AFI "very proud of ya" 1905 "Voice" and Good Clean Fun's discography. Also Tim Armstrong's solo album "A Poet's Life" while definitely more ska/reggae than punk, it's some good ****, probably the best thing he's done since Op Ivy, definitely the best thing he's done since Rancid 2000.

Yea, I see your point here. But, I think punk has become very vague the last 15 years. I just think that I would have a lot more in common musically with a guy wearing a Lag Wagon t shirt, than a guy wearing a Rolling Stones one. I would keep Lag Wagon and Face to Face on this list. Not sure about Goldfinger, I though they were a ska type band.

Another couple of UK bands that popped into my head

Sharks - Show of Hands old school clash type sound, think just a new band

Gallows - Grey Britain couple of years old now but still excellent album

The pop punk stuff argument to be honest is ******ed 20 years ago the same people were going to see NOFX, Slapshot, Misfits , the UK Subs or whoever seems to be these days everyone has o put bands into genres. I mean should we include Bad Religion or Pennywise in with punk bands or not. If its good its good dont have to worry about labels. I was a metal guy but hung out with Hard core guys so got into both lots of music.

The main trouble with pop punk is it just went stale pretty quickly.
