I dunno. Now that I think about it I was offered all sorts of extended care and other **** like that when I last bought a laptop. Maybe one of them was for support and I just ignored it.

I'm not anywhere near good enough to get along w/o some help from time to time.

A quick example: After an upgrade I tried to upload pics to photobucket which had never been a problem but I found that no matter what I did it wouldn't work and it was making me crazy. So I called support and was told that photobucket hadn't (and might not) accommodate the new iPhoto and that the solution was to copy the pics to the desktop. So at least I had somewhere to turn and now I don't unless I want to pay $49 or send for the tech guys from where I bought this computer.

Or try to use their website which is very comprehensive but doesn't look like much fun.

It's about time for a "Did something totally mundane, feel like posting, so I'll ask what I should do because I mean common sense is boring and post count is awesome" parody thread.
09-06-2010 , 10:44 AM
I'm going grocery shopping today. Should I start an ask me thread?
09-06-2010 , 10:55 AM
Nah- I'd start one about how to do it first, then once you learn you can teach the rest of us.

Anybody know the easiest way to ship a couple pieces of luggage overseas (UK->Canada if it matters)? It doesn't have to be too fast but I'd prefer it took less than a month.

I've looked around and postage/courier services are going to cost a fortune so I'm hoping there is some sort of shipping service I'm unaware of.

If you're also doing UK -> Canada, I hear the best way is to get a container and take a flight, paying the excess baggage with British Airways.
09-06-2010 , 12:57 PM
We've looked into that option but we'd need to store the baggage somewhere for a few weeks then. We're moving out, then traveling for a few weeks, then flying back to Canada.

I'm trying to move some stuff from SE to UK actually, just looking around for quotes at, for example: http://www.shipit.co.uk/

Only started looking a couple of hours ago though, so no results yet. (and to be fair I don't care much what it costs as I'm allowed to expense it)

Looks pretty good. I'll give them a call.

With a broken down car, is it kosher to get a triple a membership that is less expensive than the tow? Will they allow this?

I've played around with my dad's and think it feels pretty good, but I'm definitely going to try to get Verizon to give me an early upgrade so I can buy that Samsung (can't remember the terrible name - Verizon version of Galaxy) this week.

Tomorrow begins my first day of stay-at-home/work-at-home dad-dom (the last four months have been the same, but tomorrow my wife goes back to work). Should be interesting/challenging.

Just watched the GI Joe movie. I knew it was terrible, but expected some cool effects, decent action and a nice call to my childhood.

Instead the action was dumb, the movie was more ******ed than I expected, and the cool **** I loved as a kid (Snake Eyes vs Stormshadow) was just terrible.

Then I looked at the imdb resumes for the guys who wrote it. Beyond some work on the first POTC movie, it's just horrible after horrible. How the **** do people like that keep getting work?

How are they going to know about the broken down car? IDK if they ask what you're driving now. FWIW, I've had AAA for years and highly recommend it.

Just making a bad name-related joke.

O'Reilly just had this ridiculous item on his show:

The Hawaii Chair:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9_amg-Aos4

I think it might be a good/helpful Zoo thread but I don't frequent that place and don't feel like searching. Can anybody tell me if it's been posted there?

Btw, just so you don't feel like this has been a waste of your time I present Olivia Munn riding the Hawaii Chair!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnPgHsVJ5rw

OTOH, I see that this is from 2008. Hmmmm........

I hit submit anyway.

Budget $175 million[2]
Gross revenue $372,171,247 (Including DVD Sales)[3]

That's really all the producers care about.
