econ,

I really like Non-Stop, actually. Not saying it's the best, but people should watch it if they haven't.

killa,

That "sorry we had you at NYC rate" excuse is total bull****. If you're traveling any significant amount it shouldn't matter where you're based. Agree with LL that they aren't billing you out at a different rate based on where your home base is.

I would also get the lower travel number in writing. It's easy to say 50% and then let that creep up to 60%, 70%, 80%.

Was also thinking this. Very important.

I'll second or third the 'nyc rate' bs is probably a negotiating tactic. I had it pulled on me and i said that I was delivering the same value as a person in NYC and expected to be compensated the same. Sure enough they paid the 'NYC rate'.

Airplane is the correct answer

Ah okay, thanks!

Here I was thinking that no way Airplane could be on that list of seconds. Never seen U93 or a couple of the other movies, though, so I can't really comment.

Airplane! is correct.

Needs to be mentioned:

Airplane! is the correct answer.

Does Memphis Belle qualify?

You want to know what's tilting? You spelled it "tyre".

I would advise against this tactic. It isn't really enforceable anyway. It's fair to ask how realistic the 50% estimate is and on what basis (i.e. who decides when and if you travel) but asking for a written commitment on this point makes you seem like a nit.

Are you able to patent or copyright a sport? I invented a new form of baseball this weekend with some major differences that would make the game faster and more exciting. Obviously I won't tell you vultures about it until it is well protected. How can I protect my idea so that if people want to play it they need to compensate me?

Baseketball already invented.

Thanks all for the super solid advice.
We use People Soft currently where I work and I do a very very little towards maintaining it ( Identity integration) and its AWFUL, I can only imagine working on something like it full time trouble shooting I/O contention and other performance related issues would make me puke. I also knew that what I'm doing now will basically allow me to punch my own ticket when I damn well please.
But I wanted to hear from you nerds regarding is there a Money amount that makes this viable.
I expect to hear today from the recruiter and this saga will end.
Thanks again

What's the language we speak called again?

In before. "If American was good enough for jesus, it's good enough for you!"

Surely, it's Airplane.

You're the dummies who changed it to tyre
Quote:
Historically, the spelling was "tire" and is of French origin, which comes from the word tirer, to pull.

Another origin of "tire" is provided by Online Etymology Dictionary, essentially that the word is a short form of "attire," and that a wheel with a tire is a dressed wheel. Some other etymologists may share this view.

The spelling tyre does not appear until the 1840s when the English began shrink fitting railway car wheels with malleable iron. Nevertheless, traditional publishers continued using tire. The Times newspaper in Britain was still using tire as late as 1905. The spelling tyre, however, began to be commonly used in the 19th century for pneumatic tires in the UK. The 1911 edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica states that "[t]he spelling 'tyre' is not now accepted by the best English authorities, and is unrecognized in the US", while Fowler's Modern English Usage of 1926 says that "there is nothing to be said for 'tyre', which is etymologically wrong, as well as needlessly divergent from our own [sc. British] older & the present American usage". However, over the course of the 20th century tyre became established as the standard British spelling.

Tried wine again for the first time in a few years. It's still terrible. I'm pretty sure wine is like beer where everyone pretends it tastes good but secretly they hate the taste.

I work for a wine distributor and absolutely hate the stuff.

Everyone thinks that since I work in the business it means I must be an expert. Most of the time my answer to any wine question is "I know there's red, white, rose, zin, cab sauv, pinot, merlot, a few others and I can't pronounce about 75% of them."

Did you try it with a meal or just in a social setting ? It isn't as 'fitting' with the variety of situations beer fits with but can be great on a warm day with some food imo. Drinking wine without pairing it with food often lets me down tbh.

Have you tried a dessert wine?

I'm not interested in developing a tolerance or appreciation for tannins, so I try to look for low tannin wines on the rare occasions that I drink wine. I also avoid beers that are hoppy and/or bitter. I generally like witbiers and don't like IPAs.
