sucks you didn't get mayo. Mayo -> ketchup by 1 million miles
Donation is pretty standard in some nice places too. Hard to argue (and on the assumption that it's a reasonably efficient charity, I have no problem) with £1 on a £200+ bill. This is the one I'm familiar with: http://www.streetsmart.org.uk/ .

That said, as a general rule, I'd stay away from Gordon Ramsay, there are much better places to spend your money in London.

Nobu is most annoying about getting you in and out in 90 minutes. That's probably why Boris Becker shot off in the waitress so quickly. It's definitely a buzzkill when you are having a good time.
Ew at soft drinks in restaurants. This always annoys me for some reason. especially nice ones. I guess it doesn't help that I never drink soft drinks anyway.

Never had the time problem at Nobu, been to three different ones, including many many times to the one in Australia.

sry for derail chaps

PS. skier surprised I haven't had that donation thing pop up yet =/

Coincidentally I've lived right next to Brighton, on Beacon st. but don't know the movie theater you're talking about, I always went to the AMC in Landmark Center. Which one?

I've also lived on Yonge. st, Yonge & Eglinton, but don't remember ever paying that much at a fast food joint. I've probably paid $12-15 for a burger in Toronto, but wouldn't ever pay $22. I've been to the Wendy's at Yonge & St. Clair a few times.

I also lived 20 minutes south of Heathrow for 6yrs. The UK is crazy expensive for foreigners, especially for transportation.

Water is a soft drink. Soft as in not having alcohol.

It's cheaper to own a car in the UK than take the train or mass transit. I calculated this and I lived in St Johns Wood.

Cars are very cheap, you can get a 2002 Lexus IS for £1500. In America it costs twice as much for the same car. £190 a year tax, £40 MOT, £25-30 a month insurance and you are set...

A tube pass costs like £30 a week, and a yearly train pass on the Thames link is £7,500. It's crazy money.

So with fuel, simple maintenance and taxes it is about £1200 a year to own a car while public transport + sometimes taxis will run you at least twice that. Since I am poker player, parking was always free as I did most traveling after 6pm.

The only unfortunate bit is the gatwick or heathrow express which suck £32 invariably from you plus the cost of a taxi to and from the station. Since I would leave for longer periods than I wanted to park my car for free outside heathrow I got nailed with this too many times. Airport parking is like £8 a day minimum. You can take the tube form heathrow at least, but it is still £6 and hell.

I would consider the fact that leapfrog is wrong before doing this. Phil is just so dumb and wrong that his posts feel like trolling sometimes.

This x1,000,000. I know it's an airport so some supply inflation is obviously going to occur, but what the OP described is just ridiculous. Unfortunately by laying down and taking it without even resisting he is propogating the restaurant's MO. If I had an experience like that I would get most of those charges taken off, plus I would be writing nasty reviews on any website I could think of that would be seen.

Next time, go with Pizza Hut Express. They probably don't have that in England though because England seems to be allergic to good food.

I cant imagine going to any airport, especially in the UK, and expecting to not get ripped off.

Its the most standard thing in the world. Captive clientele and all that jazz.

Its like complaining that your Ginsters pasty cost £3 at a motorway service station, when it costs a quid at Tescos. What are you expecting to happen?

If anyone's ever stranded in the Cleveland airport, I highly recommend the Great Lakes Brewing Company pub in terminal C. Burger with a bit of pink in it, attentive waitresses, free 27 Mbps (!) internet, an aptly named 9.0% Blackout Stout. Cleveland is my new favorite airport. And the burger I ordered medium is actually pink.

The smaller the airport the better usually.

Is it weird that I have can never in my life recall eating at an airport restaurant that actually had waiters (that is, not fast food or a food court)? I fly 10-20 times a year, and each at sit-down restaurants in general about twice a week, but I never once had the desire to mix these two experiences.

I've eaten in plenty of airports. The food is expensive and low quality typically, but you don't get scammed like this. You shouldn't have to spend a meal actively guarding against petty bull****.
