Generally in first world countries you can actually drink tap water and it tastes fine.

Of course them you go to 3rd world countries and forget to not get ice in a drink one time and end up pissing out of your ass for two days.

nice troll bro!

for the record, almost everywhere i've lived, tap water is not only perfectly safe to drink, but also tastes better than many/most bottled waters! colorado is probably the only exception (re: taste, not safety obv).

My experience in London (not in the airport) has generally been the same. I have seen people causing a scene over fees that were added to their bills and in most places the service was horrible.

The only thing I disagree with is the water. I generally expect the water to be bottled in Europe and to not be offered tap water.

obv I know that tap water is perfectly fine to drink. But since the most profit of a restaurant is generated by their drinks, its kinda a douchey move to order free tap water.

I doubt it was trolling I think (some) Euros actually think this

some euro guy posted a couple paragraphs agreeing with him after that and then deleted his post for some reason

If Euros do, they should be smart enough to realize they're at a board dominated by US posters and not tard up threads being all surprised and judgy because we don't ride the family goat to work.

Considering you were in the UK there probably were salt and vinegar for free use at the table.

the most tilting thing about all this is literally the GBP->CAD conversion which prob cost me 30-50c.

it's totally understandable and even commendable that they'd prefer to take the extra 2-2.5% conversion fee for themselves rather than letting the evil credit card company take it, but the fact that they decide on my behalf that they'd rather i pay in CAD with an absurd exchange rate, incurring an additional cost to me, is inexcusable. the only reason they get away with this is that most people have no clue they're getting screwed. the "CARDHOLDER HAS CHOSEN TO PAY IN CAD" part on the receipt is easily the most tilting thing. at least the other fees aren't hidden, even if they are bull****.

i do always feel a bit embarrassed when i order tap water in england. i don't know why this is. probably because it's not done anywhere near as much as in america, and it's nearly always done by broke students or cheap people (i am the latter, though i don't do it that much).

in america when i eat out i will normally drink 4-5 glasses of water, or 4-5 glasses of coke, and it will cost $0 or $3. in england it's more a case of 'do i really want to pay $4+ for one small glass of coke?'

anyway i'd never begrudge anyone for ordering tap water, and obviously garibaldi is an idiot. also lol england, god bless america, etc.

I don't like ketchup or mayo but getting mayo with fries is pretty standard at nice restaurants and restaurants pretending to be nice restaurants. This is true even in Canada.
