What do the KVM and air card run? in terms of $

Maybe $25 for the KVM and cabling and $free-100 for the air card plus whatever monthly charge from the cellular data provider.

Using google cache is a good way to get around a work place filter.

Many hotels already do this as a courtesy to their guests.

Just wanted to give this thread some props. Was on a long drive yesterday used three OOT life tricks.

1) Gassing up unfamiliar car, found gas tank side from the arrow thing.
2) Used fuel cap to pump gas hands-free.
3) Was on the verge of crapping my pants. Instead of using a gross gas station bathroom, waltzed into a Hampton Inn Suites and had a relaxing session in a clean lobby bathroom, stocked with foaming hand soap, wicker wastebasket, and newspaper.

The hotel bathroom thing is really a game-changer. I will never poop anywhere else when traveling.

I've always had cars that need a lever to open the gas tank. It's tilting when I'm in a rental car and I look for the lever, before I get out of the car and realize I didn't need to look and could just open it there. Sometimes I do this even with my wife's car.

OK all, this is a loosely based Life Trick, but I'm already considering this for a top 10 lifetime purchase so I'm going to pass it along in this thread.

I wanted a fire pit and did all the usual looking around in stores and online. I came across this place that makes fire pits in CA and I thought they looked pretty cool. I didn't want some cheeseball walmart crap that burns through after a year, but I also didn't want to spend a lot. All the reviews on this were stellar and also gave me some info I used right away.

It's called a SoJoe. It goes for $227.85 with free shipping in the lower 48. I just really like the simple look of it and it's super solid. I found a solid stone for underneath that coast me $60 as well.

It comes with a lid, a log rod thing, a grill(!), and a cover. It is very solid and looks like it will last for years. When I first mentioned this purchase in the LC thread, people said I should get black and the wildlife cutouts instead of adobe and stars and moons. It turns out there are knockoffs and SoJoes are only one color, but in the reviews a guy said you could just wash the stuff off so that is what I did and it is basically 3mm heavy metal with a rust patina on it now and it rules. On top of that, the wife said definitely stars and moons, and I will admit every female loves them so far and that can't be a bad thing. And the wildlife one seemed a little cheesy.

A few features:
-the ring around the top stays cool and can be used as a footrest
-you can grill on it
-you can put the lid on it, leave and just let it burn out
-very mobile, around 60 pounds

It's really just a great, great fire pit. We've had a fire 5 nights in a row. Neighbors came over the first night and the wife is now buying one for her husband. Other friends came over tonight and now they're probably buying one. Everyone who sees it says 'this is the coolest mother****ing fire pit I ever seen'. I'll be using it in every season. So whatever, buy one you won't be sorry.

And lastly, you get to mack these! NSFW

floss on the way to work and on the way back. makes the commute feel much more productive, especially if there's traffic.

Just ordered my fire pit (Star and moon ldo) and added the $60 rotisserie. Now I just have to decide on buying a solid stone, or just keeping it on the pool deck.

Thanks for the tip

It will burn the pool deck/grass/wood deck underneath it without a stone under it or something under it.
And I guess the adobe dust it's covered in upon arrival stains everything it sits on, which is another great reason to just wash it off.
Fire pit on a stone on a pool deck would be sick.

Sigh...stone it is. Now I have to carry a 60 lb stone

That one in my picture weighs a buck fitty.
You could also go thin slate or something. For reference, the 3 legs measure out at a 2' x 2' x 2' triangle.

Im thinking I will just do something extremely ghetto, and buy some stepping stones for the legs and pour lime rock in the middle or something else lol worthy.

If you hear about Orlando starting on fire, it's on you

can you also use the fire pit to make wizards potions?

There you go, just do a sand box underneath it. Problem solved.
And I forgot to add, put like 10 pounds of sand in the bottom of the pit itself. 10 pounds isn't that much sand when you see it btw.

oddjob,

Only up to the bottoms of the lowest stars, so it can never be an actual overflowing cauldron of potion, no.

I'm coming up empty on my searches ... there was a thread within the last couple of years in one of the community forums that was titled along the lines of "How to haggle the price of anything" or "How to get a bargain on anything" ... I wanna say it was created by El Diablo, but I'm not sure ...

Any help would be appreciated

razor blades will last a LOT longer if you dry them after each shave. sticking them up to a light for 30 seconds or so usually does the trick.

the best fire pits in my opinion are the ones where you dig a hole in the ground and line it with rocks
