Also, within the confines of the prison/containment, there really is little difference between the guards and the prisoners. All part of the same ecosystem. As the Stanford Prison Experiment indicates, the guards will abuse their authority and become more sadistic than any prisoner. And this not a product of self-selection but completely random.

If you look at my post above, I edited it. Why? Because I took the time to reread it and found an error.

I had it as "4" decades. It did not look or feel right. I researched and confirmed that all numbers from 0 to 9 should be spelled out. I went back and changed it to "four" decades. Something I wouldn't have thought about before because I wouldn't have even reread it.

And it was done in the light of the calls for me to be more serious about my postings from the containment thread which I did take to heart.

This right here, this is the stuff of a charming post, no matter what anyone else thinks.

Here is something else I acknowledge. I still don't quite know all the rules and policies of the containment thread.

I can understand that it is a place for licensed guards ("the mods") to come and try to punish and rehabilitate the contained, if possible.

Are the others, like Howard Treesong, allowed to freely enter the containment area and act as licensed guard? Is there any vetting or is that just a self-anointed process?

I think there is even a former containee, Land of Lakes, in here too. I just don't think that would be permitted IRL. But it does give hope to the containee that not only one day they make become free, but even become so rehabilitated that they themselves can become re-educators. Which makes me think he is a trap to give false hope to the containees.

Overthinking the containment thread rules is an extra 2 days containment.

And then he made some more posts. So disappointing, but expected.

Some guys cry themselves to sleep the first few nights they're tossed into the containment thread. Eventually they succumb to reality and find the means to make their way through, it's not like they have no other option anyways.

Everybody has different demons to battle and come to grips with. How can we make this easier for you golfnutt? El D can get his hands on just about anything for a man, it's just a matter of what they have to barter with in return.

You certainly have not. The overall feeling though is hostility.

They grab a bag and sweep it over the suspect and drag him to the nether world. There is no jury or trial. They then put them in an open cage, kill their prescribed ESA right in front of them, and throw rocks and acid on them and demand they improve.

There are no restrictions on anyone posting here. It's kind of like a zoo. We're allowed to visit and gawk at the animals but can just get on the bus to go home when we tire of watching monkeys throw their ****.

That would take work. Much easier and far more amusing to throw rocks and other objects at the containee and tell him the world would be a better place without him.

It is definitely a mob mentality in here as well which probably does not work well for self-improvement.

If rehabilitation and release is the goal, perhaps a more effective technique would be for a licensed mod to take the containee under his wing and act like a mentor. Guide and encourage the containee.

Golfnutt, I just think it's important that you know something.

The post you made here in the middle, while fine (aside from the smiley, smileys are almost never fine), was the most ordinary thing in the world and could only have drawn a compliment from someone holding you to the lowest possible bar. It was a replacement-level post. I've been shaken to my core ever since I saw Howard go out of his way to compliment you for it.
