So far in San Diego I have found a couple of high quality pizza places.
The first is Chicago style and is called Lefty's. Their deep dish is good, just a step below Giordano's, but their thin is better than anything I've had in Chicagoland.
The other is called Bronx, which has a number of break-off stores, and is obviously NY style. I don't have much experience with the different places in NY, but I would say it is comparable. Apparently they fly their water in so it has the same "components" as
nY tap

Try Hoboken in PB. Best thin crust IMO. Order the My Way pie.

Water and pizza quality is an urban myth. There is a great NY style pizza place in Phoenix and the water is bad there as well. You just have to want to make a great pie.

A&W/KFC has cheese curds again. I really didn't need to know that...

Water has very little to do with the crust, it's all about the type of yeast and gluten levels in your dough.

Watched a show on Food Network part of it was on a chef in NY (iirc) that spent over a year working on the best mix of flours and yeasts to make what he believed to be the best pizza dough.

Definitely didn't spend most of that year sampling water from around the world.

They opened a new pizza place near me in NJ called Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza. I believe it is a chain with most locations in Florida but they are starting to branch out along the east coast.

Anyway pretty good pizza, step above most chains that's for sure. Not cheap though - decor is nice, nice bar... nice overall atmosphere, more upscale than most pizza places. Good meatballs with ricotta also!

wow, Im surprised to see a good review for Anthony's Coal Fired pizza from someone in NJ. I liek it, but it's Orlando's 4th or 5th best pizza.

re: Chipotle- the only time the guac is a good move is in the burrito bowl when you get a side of chips.

All the yelp reviews seem very positive on ACFP. This isn't cheap pizza but high quality ingredients and a great oven system should yield a superior product. There are only a few super high quality pizza places in NJ.

Off to costco for my monthly stock up, definitely getting the $1.50 hot dog and pop combo prior to shopping. Wish we had the chicken and carne asda bakes in Canada though.

I don't think so, but if you know someone with a card you can go in with them.
