hmmm, from my home to dominos is 4 minutes, lets say 10 minutes there and back, 5 dollar fee total for delivery, so 30 bucks hourly cost

think that's about the break even point

I had a chili dog with mustard out of a vending machine today. Actually they came in a 2 pack for $2.50. Am I gonna die?

Clearly not enough people eating Dairy Queen. Somehow never gets talked about. I had a 1/2 lb Flamethrower yesterday and its just so damn good. I like their fries too.

Only thing I ever get at DQ are blizzards.

Anyone ever have Cafe Zupas? It's kind of like a Chipotle type place but for Salad, Sandwiches, and Soups. It's not terrible, been frequenting it lately.

Why? Do you really need to eat so often that this is what you fall to?

I thought it was okay but far from life changing. I liked the quesarito better.

Unrelated: Went past an Arby's today, sign said "Ahoy Ocean Meat". I assume that's a current ad slogan, but ... eww.

Suq, I would describe the thread's reviews of the Quesalupa as decidedly mixed. You might not even get cheese inside the shell! Probably much better ways to spend 3 bucks at Taco Bell.

that reminds me...i meant to post my quesalupa trip report from a few days ago but got distracted.

was a little surprised to see the base ground beef version was $3.50 since this particular location is pretty much always in line with nationally advertised prices. since i tend to get chicken instead of beef at TB i ordered the chicken version for $4 (i justified this as the cost of doing research). as always i let them keep their spackle sour cream, and i added a cheesy bean and rice burrito for an extra $1 to round things off to $5.

ate inside and dug into the quesalupa first after adding the obligatory 3+ packets of fire sauce (because all TB food is really just a fire sauce delivery mechanism).

puffy shell was ok, although i think i prefer a standard soft taco flour tortilla. amount of cheese in shell was decent and about what i thought it would be, the rest of it was pretty much average. i'm not particularly a fan of lettuce on tacos, and by the time i took the last few bites the heat from everything else had started to cook the lettuce and it was more of a distraction than a benefit. the quantity wasn't skimpy, but was less than i would expect at TB for a $4 purchase.

in summary: yes, i tried it...but there are dozens of better value plays at TB for your $3-4 bucks. i probably enjoyed the cheesy bean and rice burrito more.

i've tried a few times to spark a DQ conversation ITT, but it never seems to gain traction. i think their food is as good or better than most of the chains that are regularly discussed in this thread, burger or not.

from lolWikipedia, they have more than 6,400 stores in 27 countries, including more than 1,400 locations outside the United States and Canada.

my opinion: if they drastically stepped up their advertising game they could see some serious market share gains. the quality and flavor is there. they seem to focus only on the dessert/blizzard side of things and don't try to advertise the rest of their products. guessing they make more profit on blizzards which is why they focus on them.

Doesn't DQ have that chicken strip basket with Texas toast? It's always great.

I basically never patronize DQ but it's not because of their food, which seems to be pretty decent when I do go. They just don't have many locations in areas I travel. I can only think of one that I go past regularly ... usually between 2 and 5 when it's happy hour at the Steak n Shake a block away.

I'd gladly eat at DQ more if there were some closer to me. Meanwhile they'll put one in every podunk Texas town with pop. 3000.

DQ is very good

but in a world where $4 stuffs you, I'll pass on $9+ unless it's really great

I've learned to mainly pass on drinks ftmp, but if I'm in a situation where that comes into play - DQ $5 lunch is a phenomenal option
