The actors in those shows (the fall, Sherlock, and the like) are part of what makes those shows so good. Unfortunately that also makes for busy schedules so they can't really churn seasons yearly as American shows do.

I saw it at the Chicago Film Festival years ago. Very well made and entertaining. That theater they robbed in the burbs was the one I went to often. The rest I'll have to put in spoilers...

Spoiler:
I wouldn't go around calling it a doc. After our screening there's a Q&A with the director and out comes Kaspar, alive and well. Every question before seeing that it was him was going to be "uh, you realize you can go to jail for this stuff right?" He defended his fake doc swerve by pointing out the description was "a movie about a documentary crew following a street thief", he never said it was a documentary itself.

Anyway - he was very personable and the Q&A was a lot of fun even though some people were still confused and asking questions to him like he was a wanted criminal who faked his own death. Malik also said that several scenes, like reconnecting power to the house and breaking that van window in the parking lot, were filmed in public without people knowing it was setup so he got some real reactions from randoms and was very surprised the cops were not called on him.

Same. If I had to grade the seasons it would be something like S1- B+, S2- D, S3- B-.

Midway through S4 and it may be my favorite season. So far I'd give it a solid A- but there's no way you can watch S4 without seeing S3 first.

S2 was so terrible I only finished it for the same reasons. S3 got kind of ridiculous from a plot continuity perspective in the middle and ends on a pretty huge cliff hanger which is a pet peeve of mine.

All that being said I'd still recommend it to someone who likes crime dramas and lacks anything better to watch.

its a bad soap opera with a ton of super dumb violence to try and shock you into continuing to watch.

also the acting is atrocious.
I've always felt like SoA was made with female audiences in mind. Like they wanted to make a romantic drama with a biker gang element added after the fact to draw in male viewers. It's got it all, a handsome broken man dealing with endless family drama resulting from his own poor choices and luck. I've watched a few eps here and there but it seems to just be the same thing over and over again... Bike gang does crime -> family effected negatively -> resolution and make up sex while foreshadowing the next crime that will negatively effect family.

+1 to Battered Bastards of Baseball. I hate baseball but it's a great doc, I also was struck by the soundtrack which I felt was quite good.

Anyone can give a short review of 'Southcliffe', seemed to get mixed reviews but came up on my recommendations.

I enjoy the show "I shouldn't be alive". It's shows reenacted depictions of people who survived various life-threatening scenarios, combined with first-hand interviews. Ends up being slightly repetitive, but if you enjoy survivalist shows, this is a great watch.

Along these lines is the show "Infested!". A series documenting various critters invading people's lives and homes. Incredibly disturbing but compelling.

Street Thief:

Spoiler:
Karr robbed the club on the spur of the moment, without any of his usual prep work. That leads me to believe he was either tipped off about the score or overheard something that lead him to the score. Either of these could point to him as the culprit, unlike his usual score where he had no connection to the place robbed.

The club owner was clearly a criminal himself and didn't report the robbery. So the money stolen was likely the proceeds of crime, and the owner likely felt he had to deal with the robbery himself. Karr's behavior before and after the score led me to believe that he knew he was taking a massive risk in robbing a criminal who would kill him if given reason to.

It was heavily implied the club owner had Karr killed in retaliation, but it's also possible someone learned of the $104k he'd just taken off the theater and killed him for it.

Really, really good movie. Was quite gripping and the guy playing Karr did a terrific job.
