Well, we need to know what you've seen and what you haven't seen.

Someone itt described it as "muddled" and that seems accurate. The show started so strong but really got silly as it developed. I thought the whole season overall was pretty entertaining and the fast-paced plotting was fun despite the silliness. I plan to check out season 2 whenever it makes it to WI.
Season 2 is a lot better, you won't be disappointed.

Watched The Vicious Kind, indie family drama with Adam Scott. It's okay, pretty heavy though.

Also Slacker from 1990, filmed in Austin and one of the indie trailblazers. It's interesting. You don't see any one character for more than a few minutes, and generally we'll follow one character into the beginning of a vignette and then follow another character out of that and into another vignette.

Parts are reminiscent of Linklater's other work. There are conversations that you would expect to hear in Waking Life. Some of the movie is a bit obnoxious and obvious with the "society has gone to hell and people don't care about other people anymore" nonsense. Overall decent though.

Blazed through House of Cards in 3 days (fml) and now I don't know what to do until the next season comes out, there is a next season right?

Business question: If you're Netflix, do you release House of Cards on DVD/Bluray or force people to subscribe to watch it?

I'd be tempted to release it (with a ton of extras), but with a pretty high price point. You'd make money off people who just like to own the shows they love without cheapening the exclusivity of your product. Also, placement on shelves would be free advertising.

They will definitely release it. They'd be leaving 10s of millions on the table.

I think I just struck Netflix streaming gold. Especially if you were a child of the 80's! Pretty much most of the cartoons I grew up with are on there. If you don't hear from me its because I am on the tail end of a Heathcliff/86 episode marathon. Or perhaps a little Fat Albert! Did you know there was a Karate Kid cartoon in 1989. Wow I don't know how I missed that one. I have never been more excited about 3 feet of snow in my life.

IIRC that Karate Kid cartoon sucked balls.

Last night I watched The Conversation. Probably among the best movies I've ever seen. The parts without dialogue were phenomenal. It dragged a little bit during the middle section when the quiet atmosphere goes away and there are some annoying '70s characters. Loved the music - it's extremely similar to HBO's Recount, to the point that I feel like the Conversation guy might be able to sue the Recount guy. Was actually surprised that it wasn't the same composer.

Then I watched Sherlock Jr., a silent film with Buster Keaton. The first 15 minutes or so are a bit of a slog, but once it heats up it's hot. Some amazing, elaborate stunts. When he gets stuck up on a roof you just smile because you know something amazing is about to happen. During one of the stunts he apparently severely fractured his neck and got horrible migraines, but went undiagnosed for years. It's only 44 minutes long and goes off Netflix on 2/15, so you might want to check it out (although there are other Keaton movies available anyway).

no way. they're making it exclusive to netflix because they want to convert nonsubscribers, not to try to compete for one dvd's worth of marketshare in the tv/dvd market.

Using that logic hbo would never release their shows. They will release it but don't expect it for a year+

Pretty Excited. Got a free month of DVDs on Netflix.

Going to try to watch all of The Wire in a month. Never seen The Wire at all.

Ok, so the post office is back to saying they are going to cut Saturday delivery again.

I know some of you guys are also DVD subscribers. I get 2 DVDs a week with the one out at a time plan. I think if they remove 4 Saturdays of delivery per month it's going to put a huge dent in how many DVDs Netflix can ship per month.

I think I would cancel my account if they didn't adjust their price for that. Anyone else feel the same? I think getting 8/month is pretty good value but that's about the tipping point for me.

Watched first episode of house of cards, I liked it queued up episode 2 already. Spacey is chewing the scenery pretty good but he has the chops IMO and I like political movies/shows
