In general I also don't like comparing shows to each other (or movies for that matter). Just enjoy the show for what it is. There's always something undoubtedly better or worse. Unless you're comparing them for a specific reason, like comparing a director's movies or comparing movies of a specific genre for a specific reason, etc.
huge +1

I'm not saying I'll stop watching it or anything, I just gave my impressions based on the first ep. one could say it's not a lot to base opinions on pilots but usually they are the strongest in the first season, considering they are what makes the show get greenlit or not. considering it's a netflix show, I don't know how if it worked the same way.
dunno, i feel like lots of my fav comedies (IASIP, curb, veep) got way better after the pilot.

i don't even think the pilot of archer was a good indicator of the level of GOAT-ness to come.

IASIP pilot was great imo. I was hooked after that first episode. Archer pilot was meh but actually 2nd episode was what won the show over for me.

In general I agree. Pilots are not a great way too determine the potential for a show.

Django Unchained and Hunger Games: Catching Fire are up.

Both pretty good but obv watch HG before watching HG:CF

HG was up last year when HG:CF was released in theaters. Seems they are doing some cross marketing by releasing the previous movie a month before the new movie is to be released in theaters. Seems like a good way to generate hype and excitement.

And if I remember correctly, they just removed HG about a month ago, so they didn't want both up at the same time?

Really liked the first HG, the second had a good premise but I didn't like it as much as the first.
For people who have read the books: is the book the third movie is based on any good?

No.

The concept of the second book is by far the best, but the execution of the movie was pretty bad

Never read the books for HG. But love the movies. Second one is better, imo.

Same with the twilights. But I did read the lotr and harry potters before the movies.

The second HG movie is quite obviously better. That is an objective statement :P

I wasn't a big fan of either but I preferred the first one. Being dragged to a midnight showing while pretty drunk may have unfairly tainted my view of the second one though

Decided after this post not to give up on this show and am grateful. There's a lot of filler and the show is far from perfect, but it's been quite enjoyable to watch four episodes away from the finale.

Honey Badgers! Maybe the toughest animal on Earth. It win's fights with lions, hyena's and rhino's. I was amazed at the intelligence and bravery of this animal I've never heard of before.

Tombstone pretty elite. Val Kilmer kills it. If you haven't seen it you should.

I'm watching a good little indie movie now with the HIMYM guy, Liberal Arts. He's far less annoying in this charming little movie about college and nostalgia

Hunger games movies are far better than the books. The third book was even worse trash than the first two, and that's an accomplishment, considering how bad they are. I've never seen a book series worse than its movie counterpart, which says a lot about how bad the writing is. The blatant deus ex machina usage throughout the series is enough to make even a casual fantasty fan gag, and the contrived, boring, predictable love triangle is even more gag worthy. People like it though.

The movies are good. I expect the third to be watchable.

I'll have to add that one. It sounds like a similar plot to one I watched recently called Commitment. Really enjoyed it.

I liked it. It didn't go a lot of cliche routes and didn't try to get too deep. Nice indie flick.

NF asks the dumbest questions.

"How often do you watch Golden Globe Award-winning Movies based on a Play?"

I have no idea how to answer that.

Duh. Count the number of golden globe award winning movies based on a play you have seen. Divide by your age, divide by 12. Bam, you have your monthly consumption of gold globe award winning movies based on a play.

For instance, I watch .0111111 repeating golden globe award winning movies based on a play per month.
