"Beauty is Embarrassing" (doc about Wayne White, Hollywood hillbilly pop artist/Peewee's Playhouse set designer/puppeteer) was really really good.

Thanks for that. Now I think it's great.
Monsters was great, even before I read this and went back and re-watched the first few minutes...

So much better than big budget hollywood nonsense. The opening was subtle; it doesnt ruin the rest of the movie at all.

Got Sweeny Todd and Argo.

Argo is for sure a go, but should I bother with Sweeny Todd?

Also, I watched Henry Jesus Christ. Decent. Wouldn't watch again. Its about a kid in search of his real father. The kid is also a genius and has the IQ of Eisenstein.

Been awhile since I saw it (in theaters), but I recall enjoying it.
Nothing compared to the stage production of course.

Friends With Kids is great. Excellent writing and acting by a great cast. I love Maya Rudolph in almost anything and she (along with Adam Scott, Jon Hamm, et al) is great here.

he's not a polished stand up comedian. he mostly kinda went on and on about how he liked the way things were when he was a kid better then today. i also think he was on blow or something speedy. his humour is best as a TV show host.

that said i am a fan and did chuckle quite a bit.

Please Vote for Me was pretty good and only an hour long. It's about a 3rd grade class in China electing a class monitor for the first time (in all of China supposedly). Sounds kind of boring but they quickly get the hang of politics.

A couple of movies I watched:

The man From earth (7.9 IMDB) - I enjoyed this, it involves a professor who has a small going away party thrown for him, which he tells his colleagues that he is 14000 years old. The entire movie is then shot in a single room where they just ask him questions and whatnot to try to understand if he is lying or what. The acting is not all that great from some of the characters, but the movie is story driven and enjoyable for people who might be into the what if scenario.

Oblivion (7.6 imdb)- this is basically a Fahrenheit 451/1984/V for vendetta mix where in a dystopian future a regime rules and forces its citizens to take these doses of medicine that prevent them from having feelings. One of the higher ups in the government tries to overthrow it. Stars Christian Bale, and is focused more on the action side with some plot thrown in. A lot of fighting scenes, that get a tad repetitive, but overall I really enjoyed it.

I watched this a while ago. It was mildly interesting, but the big reveal was totally obvious for basically the entire movie.

The movie you're describing is called "Equilibrium".

The move "Oblivion" is still in the theaters.

Yeah, I liked Equilibrium, too. It had a few pacing problems, I think, but it had a definite style to it and a pretty good story. The fighting scenes were pretty well done.

****WARNING****

I just received my DVD of zero dark thirty and when I tried to play it a window popped up for some type of new sony online service similiar to apple's icloud. At first I thought this was some form of new advertisement and was slightly irritated that netflix was resorting to advertising on a paid dvd service but watched through it. It kept looping and I forced myself to click on the links this ad was offering in the hopes I could finally watch the movie. It was all to no avail and when I called to netflix to ask whats going on they told me the dvd was hacked and not to click on any links (too late). I didn't see any links on the web regarding this so I wanted to warn you guys about this. I know this is the watch instantly thread but i have the dvds and still read this so I hope this helps
