It is one those very few series that you can join in any time during an episode and it is still funny and great.

Unrelated to any FB/WA/IG outage that may or may not be currently happening, anyone else have issues with Paramount+ not streaming some shows? I've been trying to watch new episodes of FBI* (any of them), and keep getting errors on the P+ app on my LG tv. Seems to work from my laptop, so it's probably LG or LG related. Some shows seem to work, though (ST: Lower Decks ftw!)

I've gotten quite used to being able to stream from an app on my tv, and I don't like it not working.

I think Paramount+ just completely blows from a technical perspective. I've never tried to watch a show but whenever I go to watch soccer (Serie A, Champions League, CONCACAF qualifiers etc...) I get an error technical difficulties message at least every other time. It's maddening. And that's irrespective of whether I watch live or on demand. It's just awful. And there interface and finding things is so bad too

About to give this whole Squid Game a shot!!

Is it worth watching with overdub? I figure since it’s probably not a heavy drama that the actors nuances are okay to miss out on. I’d usually never do it but I don’t have time to focus watch. I’ll need to turn my head often.

I have not watched it but there has been a lot posted here and on twitter saying for sure do not use dubbing, use original and subtitles.

Korean and subtitles is the only answer.

A user on tiktok (korean speaker) was saying the subtitled translation on squid game was not very good and misses some meaning, so dubbing is probably fine to avoid the hassle of reading subtitles. (I don't like subtitles either.)

I'm a subtitles guy, but I am struggling a little with The Chestnut Man. I find myself getting lost in a scene and I'll stop reading for a bit. It's happened to me numerous times with this show and I've never had that happen before.

I was under the impression that the bad translations were taken from the CC and not the actual subtitles. Didn't ever have a moment in the show where I didn't feel like I knew what was going on or missing out on communication between characters because of the subtitles.

I watched some episodes with subtitles and some with dubbing. The dubbing is actually ok on this one.

I watch a lot of foreign language stuff(mostly korean/spanish) always with subtitles, but certain genres are harder than others.

Thrillers, scifi, etc are usually fine.

Two episodes into Borderland, a Finnish police procedural, with a "mentalist" type guy who's on the spectrum, who can see things at crime scenes that others miss. It's pretty good so far. They're after a serial killer, of course.

Since its getting just so much buzz I revisited Squid Games despite my dislike for dubbing. I do love that genre and I thought the story was very good and it kept me pretty interested throughout. The voice acting was at times unbearable but overall not too bad.

If any show ever screamed for a US reboot/remake this is the one. Not sure a Korean season 2 wouldn't suck balls?

I 100% don't understand why people insist on the dubbing. I'd like to think it's because they get uncomfortable as they mouth the words spelled out at the bottom of the screen, but it's the standard in a lot of countries, and it's not like half the people on earth can be stupid, right?

I have seen them all. Good, light fun with some good plot lines and the main character is enjoyable to watch.

Check it out if you’d like a comedy that is bingeworthy and easy to get through. I found myself really wanting to see what was going to happen. Only thought 1 episode was meh and it was kind of out of left field.
I’m very late to this party, LOVE this show

Three episodes into Maid... it's got my attention. Seems to be a very realistic and empathetic look into the world of American white trash. There's some production choices that seem unnecessary and gimmicky, but the story and acting are both very good and I'll keep watching.

My brief review of Squid Game(Spoilers)(8/10):

Spoiler:
Just finished this a day ago and think it's a solid series but the middle parts definitely bog it down. I hated the tropic characters like the badass street girl, the yakuza tough guy, the succubus. Like others pointed out the ending sucked and I felt the interior business machine of The Game was shown way too early. Like pretty much everything nowadays it could be cut down in half and be much stronger. This may be too polistical but I feel like media in general that presents these type of issues in such a ridiculous setting that it loses its message on the people that need to hear it the most.

There was a lot of good though in this though. I thought the protagonist and his enemy where really fleshed out and provide interesting analysis of how the pressure of society on both ends pressures you into doing immoral acts. The cinematography, set design, and music/sound effects are all awesome. I guess I just felt like in the end this series was trying to what Snowpiercer did expect much longer? I don't know it was fun but not amazing god Parasite definitely was much deeper.

I'm liking this as well.

I'm two episodes into Bad Sport on Netflix and am enjoying it.
