Sketta is usually used by young, poor, inner city folk.

I do count as "folk" though, so I guess one for four?

I say -ketta, because that is correct, but everyone around me says -shetta.

I will never dumb down. Next thing you know, you're saying dumb **** like 'irregardless.' The only time I've ever heard it correctly is at a tiny Italian restaurant in the North End run by a husband and wife.

Yeah, that's why it's not a huge issue. It doesn't come up very often. However, if you ever take a lady of the night out to dinner, your mind will be blown with their word choice and pronunciation.

I think you're confusing sketta with sketty...

It’s “broo-sketta” in Italian. How do you pronounce “Chianti?”
07-17-2020 , 11:44 PM
How do you pronounce Didace??

irregardless is a good word, tho, imo

Like Hannibal?

Anthony Hopkins slammed the door on any debate over "Chianti."

if there was ever any doubt or alternate pronunciations

Or did Jack Crawford send you for one last wheedle and to ply me with Chianti, before you're both booted off the case??!

If you see a CH spelling in Italian, it's actually pronounced as a hard K sound, not as a soft “ch” sound as it would be in English. K: The last syllable is spelt C – H – I – so the C plus H is pronounced as a hard K sound. ... The last syllable “CI” is spelt CI. So we get the soft “ch” sound at the end.

This man is the hero we need in these dark times.

Pretty sure I say shetta in restaurants because I'm one of the sheeple. No more!

sketta is definitely the "correct" way of pronouncing the word in Italian, but both seem acceptable.

I use sketta.

"Sketta" and Black Butte is a rare beer in that I have no idea how they do it, it's really fantastic.
07-18-2020 , 04:40 AM
It's clearly Bruschetta as in shetta.

come on now.

How do you pronounce the name of the Boston NBA team?

I am in camp -ketta.

I am sure you have discussed it before, but I every time I see him post I wonder two things: 1) how to say his name and 2) if that is literally the cutest dog ever.

I'm a fan of "Didace" like "Versace". But I suspect that's not how he thinks of himself.
