its knife imo. i never would throw it though.
i am no expert and my oppinion is probably biased cause i had 3years of juijitsu including 1year of knife training and
if i could replace the knife against 2 escrima sticks, perhaps even 1 stick i wouldnt take the knife probably, cause you can hit real fast with sticks.

but a bat is a pretty weak weapon on short-range/in-fight, especially if you hold it like swinging a ball, and to hold it like a bo-stick its too short to be effective. one good timed step to close range and it would be nearly impossible to make a good hit with power. people saying you cant block a bat without getting your arm broken could be right but its also very difficult to hit the skull with a bat without getting blocked by an instinctiv-arm-reaction-block. and in a fight life or death i guess everyone would sacrifice the blocking arm for some stabs. now on the other hand try to block a knife-stab with a bat. on close range.

imo its a little bit like boxer against juijitsu-fighter in ufc. sooner or later theyre both in closerange or on the ground grapping each other, sure i would want to have the knife then, even a small one. you just have to go in in-fight-range.

its probably also a question how athletic or chubby the fighters are. i mean a slow person who cant make a move fast is probably underdog with a knife against a bat swung by an athletic guy etc.
but if theyre both average and had each one day of training...i would say knife.

Why the bat wins, is that when you are in front of your opponent and wielding your weapon, it is customary to say, "You see this, you see it, yea? When I'm done killing you with it, it's going right up your *******!"

And that line just works much better with a bat.

Learning curve of the knife is much steeper than the bat, but at the upper levels of combat the knife wins any day of the year.
