You can take your little chuckle**** out to a nice restaurant only if you give him a shot of heroin first imo.

true. actually true for both cases.

i think most ccmf's are so oblivious of anyone around them, they'd bring 3 screaming kids to a nice restaurant after sideswiping 3 cars on the way there, and not even think anything was wrong.

usually you don't really tell if asian kids are being loud, cause their parents are usually louder, unless they're japanese.

dude, you ever had kids?

you sound really authoritative on the subject is why I'm asking

you're not one of those non-parents who goes around snap-judging mothers and fathers on the basis of like ten minutes of observation, are you?

obviously people have different feelings on babies/kids, but i'm not sure why not having one makes someone less qualified to comment based on what they see. I mean, I don't have a dog, but if I saw someone let his dog sh*t in my yard and then walk away without cleaning it up I'd feel pretty safe assuming he's an a-hole based on that observation.

it's going to vary based on particular instances (e.g. blatantly awful parent versus intelligent observing non-parent)

but if you've never raised kids and are just regularly going off on parents you see in public once and never again and you don't know if they're having an off day or you don't understand that some kids just go through these pseudo-ungovernable phases or that there are different parenting styles plus a learning curve plus inevitable compromises and human moments of weakness and you're just throwing your untested opinions at them with no decent sense of humility or a maybe-I-don't-know-everything-that's-involved-and-all-the-variations, or anything like that, then I think it's okay for me to suggest that you mount a slightly shorter horse

Some kids are wired differently from others.

My daughter (8) has always been great in restaurants. Her first trip was to Johnny Rockets when she was two weeks old.

My son (5), OTOH, raises so much hell he bothers people in Denny's.

no i've never had kids. imagine that? i've haven't yet done something that almost everyone on earth can and does do. amazingly i can still pretty accurately judge whether an action involving children is inappropriate according to social norms. plenty of people who have actually gone through the magical experience of spawning offspring agree with me.

if you take an infant/toddler to a fine dining establishment, you're an ass hole who doesn't give a **** about other people. you probably shouldn't even take them to outback, but it's more forgivable.

had to me your last statement daryn, anyplace that offers a kids menu of any kind is basically free game.
11-23-2011 , 04:20 PM
well like i said it's more forgivable and i wouldn't call someone an ass hole for taking their kids to outback. i agree with you. i was just using that as an example of how i personally would find it annoying if i was next to a table with bothersome child at it at outback, but hey what do i expect, i'm at outback.
11-23-2011 , 04:22 PM
Yeah, hig chair + kids menus mean that children are perfectly acceptable. It also means your bathroom should have a changing table, I'm talking to you, Jalisco Mexican Restaurant.

If your child is younger in years than the price in dollars of the cheapest entree on the menu, you probably need to get a sitter.
