Jeselnik over Burr huh? Interesting. Jeselnik and Schumer tell what comics refer to as fake jokes, where as Burr tells more real jokes. More of the CK style.

I like jeselniks jokes but realize his style isn't ideal in a comedian sense.
Any recommendations for comedians similar to mike birbiglia? The same kind of long form storytelling?
I'm gonna dig deep and suggest Stewart Huff.
Unfortunately, guys that do long form stuff have a hard time breaking through because a 14 minute story about a kid stealing a penguin is never going to fit in a 5 minute late night talk show slot. 'This American Life' is probably their best shot, but a lot of them just fly under the radar forever like Stewart.

yeah it's a really interesting form that's really hard to find. This American Life is a great format for them, and how I found out about Birbiglia to begin with. I'll definitely check out this guy and Ron White.
Really interested if anyone finds others in this kind of form.
Christopher Titus's actual standup material is very story form. Especially his latest 2 or 3. I'm a huge fan, but a lot of that might be because of the show. He's very good, but you can easy spot major weaknesses in his actual standup game. Worth giving a shot regardless though.
- i've seen jim jefferies 'fully functional' live and it had maybe a 15 minute story at the end regarding sex that was one of the funniest things i've seen live (i have no idea how it holds up on the DVD). more to the point i believe all his shows (haven't seen them yet) end on a similarly long raunchy tale.
- if you're looking for a whole show based around one overarching story then maybe check out dave gorman's 'googlewhack adventure'.
I love Norm MacDonald, but I'm not big on Twitter, and didn't realize what a genius he is on there until recently. Unfortunately, he deletes some of his best work. But for others like me who haven't been following previously, here is an example:

Another similar style worth checking out is Kumail Nanjiani. I slept on this guy for awhile, but decided to pick up his hour long special from the CCDirect site. Great special. This guy is a lot of fun.
