The lewd stuff is at the beginning while he's piling on Cosby. After that stuff he delves into "activists", current events, and technology. It's quite different.

Comedy Dynamics on hulu has a lot of funny comedians I'd never heard of before. They're all pretty good with a few being hysterical.

Norm Macdonald had one of the best live sets I've seen. I would recommend seeing him without reservation to anyone.

I'd say you will very much not enjoy this special then. Norton seems to me like such a clever, interesting guy, and he has a lot of the same views and positions as me, and I just cannot understand why I dont enjoy him as a comedian, he's exactly the type I should love, but his schtick just gets so old so fast and it seems like he just cant stop going to the well. The new special is exactly the same as everything I've ever seen him do.

Has anyone seen Carl Labove before? I watched pretty much everything available on youtube (which isn't much and most of it is dated) and thought it was ok.

Is anyone familiar with his newer material or a full show?

Also, any opinion on Peter Bales?

Have seen Labove twice, about eight years ago and previously when he toured with Kinison, so yeah he is a veteran. The show eight years ago was at a small club and he was decent, but can't vouch for anything newer than that.

Only lasted about 15 minutes before I gave up on the Jay Pharoah Showtime special. His jokes were on tired subjects like gettin beat by your parents as a kid, and his impressions were so bad half the time he had to say who he was impersonating.

Thanks for the feedback! That is pretty much what I expected. If I end up in his neck of the woods I'll give a brief TR.

Comedic genius and aggro masturbator Louis CK has released a (half-way*) new album which you can purchase for just $1 (or $85, your choice).

https://louisck.net/

*half of the material in it was on his last special, the one taped in the comedy store.

Who's gonna buy it? Who's gonna buy it and pay the max of $85?

His last special sucked. And I paid for it

I go back and forth on Demetri Martin, partly because his schtick can kind of wear on you after a while, but his new special on Netflix is ****ing amazing

Really?!?! That's great to hear. His albums are really good but his specials never did it for me as much.

I know this was posted a month ago, but the reason why they didn't do one full show is that I'm sure that one crowd work show is full of duds and has no flow. We were getting to see the best part of all the shows, and while almost everything in that show that isn't him on stage is not good, it breaks up the monotony.

Very hedbergish, but not as great of course.

Liked the salad bit.

Salad bit was good, roof of mouth bit for some reason just struck me as brilliant. His style is to tell a ton of jokes so clearly some miss, but the hits in this special just were so good

Has anyone seen Bill Burr in an arena setting? I rarely get to see good stand up and am thinking about going. Is it worth it? Is it pretty important to get the best seats possible?

I saw him at an ampitheater at Oddball last year and he was good, he plays well in big crowds. We had really good seats but not sure if it would have made a HUGE difference

i bought this last week. the new stuff is wayyyyy less than half imo, though i was expecting that. i didn't think the comedy store special was great, and this confirmed it. i'm sure whatever i wrote then still holds super true...there is just too much stuff that isn't even jokes and is just him making dumb noises, and the whole thing seems to be at 50%.

one bit i did laugh pretty hard at that i didn't so much last time (maybe it was new? idk), was about old guys not needing wallets.

paid $5 because i have stolen so much over the years that i'll pretty much pay $5 for anything he puts on the site.

I saw Kumail a couple years ago (2012 I think), he was excellent. It was the week before his special was recorded so the entire act was incredibly well polished. I would definitely go see him again.

Grunch.

I think Nick DiPalo is freaking hilarious. His voice with the exasperated tone and Boston accent already is making me laugh.

Also, I saw "Big" Jay Oakerson a couple of nights ago at the Stand in NY. His crowd work killed. Really funny!

Saw him at the Cellar last month. All he did was crowd work for 20 minutes and it was goddamn fantastic.
