I also just found out Birbiglia is coming to my tiny home club, which is pretty exciting.
Saw him a couple weeks ago also, he was great. I was surprised that he could sell out 2 shows in such a large venue, considering he's never really had mainstream success via a sitcom, HBO specials, etc. Most of my friends have never heard of him. Guy just keeps on touring and building a devoted following I guess.

I enjoyed the new Che special. Reminded me of Chappelle-light in material and delivery.

I've done some shows with Al, hilarious stand up, great dude.
His stuff about teaching middle school in South Florida kills me.

Thought Michael Che's Netflix standup was super solid. His ending joke left a bit to be desired, but otherwise it was a great performance.

Loved the Che special but also laughed really hard at the closer being so random and abrupt.

Che's new special is great. One of the few comics able to work social commentary into his act w/o making it seem too preachy.

Zach Broussard’s Annual “Top 1000 Comedians” List Is Now Up, But There’s a Twist

Quote:
For the past two years, comedian Zach Broussard has put together a joke end-of-the-year ranked list called the “Top 1000 Comedians.” The first one back in 2014 was a pretty straightforward list on Tumblr, then last year Broussard took things to the next level when he presented the list through a sadistically formatted website that forced comedians to click their way through 1000 individual pages for each name on the list. The 2016 list just went up, and this time around, Broussard’s added an extra twist: instead of releasing the list online, he rented ten billboards around Los Angeles for the month of December, and it’s up to comedians to find each one and piece the list together.
I love this so much.

Disagree, it isn't PC, but it's still mostly hilarious

The most shocking part of his life is where he got his start in performing.

Yah I mean I found myself chuckling guiltily

More than half the **** he talked about would offend most people today

What a showman though

I've been on a stand up binge lately. (mostly netflix). Probably watched a good 15 at least over the last month. Here are my recommendations!

Che's special was one of, if not the best of the lot. I was expecting him to be quite good but I was still really impressed. As mentioned by another poster, he can do bits and chunks about topical issues without seeming preachy AT ALL. That pretty much doesn't happen.

Here were the other specials I was impressed with:

John Mulaney - The Comeback Kid - I tried to watch this once and it didn't hook me. The trick for me was watching his earlier special first, where he introduces who he is as a person etc etc, after watching that and going back to TCK, I was delightfully surprised and engaged from start to finish. His rant about The Fugitive nearing the end had me in tears!

Wyatt Cenac - Brooklyn - I've always liked this guys vibe and voice from his time at TDS. I watched one of his specials years ago and I can just vaguely remember liking it. I think this one will stay with me a lot longer. He tells a very dark and personal story that was really intriguing.

Dana Carvey and Rob Schneider's latest were both very decent. Same with Colin Quinn's two latest specials (one about New York, one about the founding fathers). Speaking of which I love what he's been doing for years now... these one man history teacher (off?)broadway shows are fantastic.

Also enjoyed Joe Rogans Triggered (he's clearly growing) and Bill Maher's Whiny Little Bitch (about trump).

About to watch Criminally Posehn. Excited.

I'm a big Bill Burr fan, watched all his stuff. I rate his specials in quality chronologically. First was best.

I haven't watched any Segura yet. Jefferies I find kinda meh, but I might not have given him an honest enough chance yet.

I was mostly pointing out new(er) specials. There is actually a decent little collection of classic stand up on Netflix, including Hicks!

But it's hard to find them all.

I wish they had a stand up only category so I don't have to wade through all the hideous movies! It seems like it can take a while for some random goodie to pop up in your queue that hasn't before.

Oh yeah - Criminally Posehn was solid af with a very funny twist in the middle. If you can find it, check it out.

I bought two tickets to see Louis CK in Washington, DC next month. I'm going to sell them if I get a lot of money for them, otherwise I'll attend the show myself.

I can't really see what's suppose to be so clever and or funny about it. I know what he's doing, but I don't care!

I'm torn, I could see one of two shows he's having within two hours of me, yet dropping close to 150 bucks for a ticket is not worth it.

Thought the exact same thing and it ties into the recent post about live vs TV.

I absolutely love Chris Rock. He is 1 of the most influential comics wrt my comedic tastes, but I can't possibly justify spending $100+ to see something live I know will be part of a netflix special 6 months from now. $100+ is not worth the price of admission 4 me to be able to say " oh I heard that joke live" in a total douchebag fashion to my friends.
