Natasha Leggero is as well. Providing she's not in full character. She's a damn funny chick, but her on-stage persona can be a bit annoying occasionally.

Morgan Murphy is also funny as hell.

Yes, I am interested in watching.

Natasha Leggero is horribly annoying but also occasionally funny.

pretty weird that the two best stand-ups aorn are both redheads raised in eastern mass. almost the same age, but that isnt too shocking considering comedians peak age 40-45 imo.
This. Like them both, but CK is the GOAT

"Live" was perfection. I think it's the first time I've ever laughcried. The fact it didn't win the Grammy was insanity as it will go down as one of the most celebrated stand up albums of all time.

First time on stage!

First joke gets cut off which is a shame, hopefully you all can enjoy over the laughter!

Nice job, you seem pretty comfortable on stage.

+1 to Dane Cook. I hated him prior with the snake stuff but he is hilarious.

Are you going back and forth and looking at that sheet? Kind of hard for me to tell from the camera angle.

Tough for me to hear the material given the girl's laugh, but my first recommendation is to pace/kick a bit less (I know it's a bit of a nervous response). Have a look at how (some) pros do it, it's something you'll correct very quickly and it will add to the assertiveness of your delivery. Eventually you want to walk around to involve different parts of the room, or because your joke needs it. There's also nothing wrong with standing still for a bit, and assertively looking out towards the room. I recommend you mute the video, and just watch your body language. You'll learn a ton from that.

Anyways congrats on starting, most people never have the guts. You'll get addicted to it really quickly. And I agree, it doesn't look like your first time, well done.

first, congrats on getting up on stage. its not easy to do, as im sure you know now.

agree about pacing but thats something you get more comfortable with. some people are better standing still, but if you watch the pros, they move around as part of their set. so theyre at certain parts of the stage at certain parts of their jokes for timing.

women and gold joke was pretty solid, apple joke went on a few jokes too long. not a fan of the MLK joke, i think it either needs to be tamer or way more out there. i think the former is more your style.

i think you can also work on your transitions. saying youre moving on to a new topic always takes me out of it, because it's like "ok, are you ready, im about to tell you a joke!" as opposed to finding natural transitions between topics. and they dont need to be seamless, you can just say "but anyway" and then pivot, but never tell us youre telling a joke.

gl!

ya the comedic segway is indeed an art form. I actually always found starting jokes to be harder than ending them. For whatever reason, I still obsess over how hard it is to start a 6 minute bit. I envy big pros who start by receiving 2 minutes of applause, followed by something simple like "ok sit the **** down". Must be nice to just jump right in.

For anyone unknown to the audience, that first minute is always the hardest.

Take the joke that went over the best (Saddam saying "I didn't even know she was mad at me"), and expand on it. Build on that laugh and hit them again immediately.

Discard the bits not getting laughs if you do them again a few times and the results are the same.

We aware of the moments where you trail off a bit a speak too softly.

ya that was awhile ago I've discarded most of that material.
I tried to move away from "bits" or "jokes" toward more personal style story telling which I prefer but since I moved back to LA I have yet to get back on stage.
I wasn't doing this in the hopes of making it a career and the Bay Area open mic was perfect atmosphere. I haven't found a place like that in LA.

thanks for the feedback tho, much appreciated.

if youre ever on the east coast lemme know, i started producing a storytelling show a couple months ago. its a subtly different form than stand up, and i think is a lot more fun for me personally. PM me if you wanna share any storytelling stuff youve done

Just got back from seeing Bill Burr, without a doubt the best standup I've ever seen live (and I'm getting close to having seen everyone still alive outside of Stanhope). He did over 90 minutes, which also the longest set I've seen at this level. What a pro.

just saw the patton oswalt special,

hilarious. probably my second favorite of his. the bit about the show where all the audience members did was shout stuff he was previously in had me dying at 1:00am.

my only beef is how terrible he is at self promotion. most other comics spam the **** out of u for upcoming shows.
I'm on his mailing list n have literally never got a ****ing email from him about anything much less a warning of upcoming show.
****er will tweet like 2hrs before a show "oh btw I'll be at the wiltern tonight" and obv impossible to get a ticket.
I actually love this aspect of his character. While I understand it's annoying, it's one of the reasons he's so easy to like. He doesn't give a **** about promoting (compared to the standard), and actively backlashes against typical avenues people/comedians will take. Sometimes that feeds into a bit about enjoying the moment rather than rushing to your cameraphone, other times it's a roadblock to seeing him do a bit rushing to your cameraphone. My attitude towards Bill Burr is the closest I'll ever come to feeling like a stalker. My GF and I seriously want to be friends with Burr and Nia, and think they'd get along great with us. It's quite sad, actually.

Also, I agree 100% about his podcast. I haven't come across a single other comedian who doesn't get the "skip to interview" treatment when they start their episode by themselves. Burr is almost exclusively a one man show, and it's one of my favorites. Louie is the only other comedian who I think would be a fantastic solo podcaster.

This is likely juvenile backlash on my part, but the internet love for Louie is way out of control. It's like the comedian version of The Wire. I'd argue he isn't even a funny comedian as much as he's an amusing philosopher these days. His last 2 specials were tepid, and while he's unquestionably brilliant and an all-time great, Bill Burr gets harder laughs, and more of them; from me, at least. I'd certainly agree that they're the two best right now.

New Stewart lee Comedy Vehicle Series is out now. It's stand up but with interludes where Stewart has his act/persona/whole life dissected by another comedian. Normally this was Armando Ianucci (wrote The Thick of It and Veep), but this time it's Chris Morris (Brass Eye, The Day today, Four Lions etc)..

It's really really good. He is just masterful at satirical stand up.

Such a phenomenal story, and the ending bit about selling out was perfect.

ya I was mostly just joking around being bitter that I missed his last 2 LA shows.
and I totally agree that IMO ATM he's the funniest comedian working.
obv Louie deserves all the praise he's gotten he's hilarious, innovative and the most prolific comedian I've ever seen, but he seems to be branching out from str8 stand up (Louie is one of my fav shows) so I don't really think it's taking anything away from him to say his focus is no longer 100% on stand up n burr is the reigning GOAT.

I will say that Louis still gives the best late show interviews ever.

I have much love n respect in my heart for both of those ginger bastards.
