SS,

Do you currently use an ecig? Assuming not, i would just skip this and go straight to one of the good setups that have been mentioned ITT. an ecigar just seems gimmicky and probably doesn't have the level of refinement that something like the provari and a good tank/carto setup would.

I currently smoke cigars (no cigarettes) and I think I would feel weird smoking even an electronic cigarette. But I suppose if they're really the same thing it shouldn't matter what it looks like or what it's called.

That's a good call Stu. If you get a solid device it will perform way better than the gimmicky ones. I'm no cigar aficionado but I have vaped a couple juices that tasted very cigar-like. I think they mimmick the cigar taste pretty accurately

part of the advantages for switching from a cigarette to an ecig is a model that feels similar to a cigarette in you hand and mouth and operating it like a cigarette, i.e. using an automatic instead of a manual. with a manual you press a button to activate it, with an automatic the device is activated by the flow of air through the device, pretty ingenious actually. i would recommend an automatic for any beginning vaper.

the biggest difference between ecig and an ecigar is the size and dimensions of the device. the larger size accomodates a larger battery. an ecig weighs more than a cigarette and that difference would be magnified with a larger device. nevertheless, i suspect that most cigar smokers do less hands free smoking than cigar smokers so i would think that the increased weight is not important. there are devices marketed as cigar like in shape and if you get the automatic style i think you will find that you can vape it much the way you would smoke a cigar.

i think that using an ecig or other personal vaporizer is more like using a pipe than a cigarette or cigar. it operates more like a pipe because you consume the eliquid from a reservoir.

If you are a cigar smoker you probably do not inhale much. good news: you will comparable taste to what an ecig inhaler gets. ecigs are successful for inhalers because they get more throat hit and more of the nicotine out of the liquid. purchasing eliquid and refilling the cartomizer (filter looking part) reservoir is easy, convenient and saved a bunch over purchasing prefilled cartomizers.

the next important factor for a cigar smoker would the taste. I have seen several cigar type flavors available. I have some Flavor Arts brand cuban supreme flavor eliquid that is quite nice. here is a review http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/for...avour-art.html

In conclusion, i encourage you to get an automatic style cigar shaped vaporizer and try a few cigar flavors, i think you will enjoy the taste and feel immensely. go for it. a good place to find reputable vendors is on e-cigarrete forum http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ here is a list of threads that might enlighten you before purchasing http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-cigar-models/

Good write up Indy. I can't agree with the recommendation to go with an automatic though. In my experience, they take to long to activate so you end up sucking wind.

They sound like they'd be the preference, but in actual use pressing a button to activate makes a big difference. FWIW I started with autos and would never buy another one after trying a manual.

Sorry if this is a dumb question or has been asked before, do you get a nicotine rush of a E-cigarette like smoking normally?

Yes. You can choose the strength of hit you want by the different strengths of juice available.

If you choose a cheap petrol station e-cig then not so much.

you get the nicotine but not the dizzy feeling. the dizzy feeling is actually caused by the carbon monoxide replacing oxygen in you brain. if you can live without the carbon monoxide poisoning you get with cigarettes you'll do fine.

good point, if u want a carbon dioxide rush stick your face up to a car's tailpipe. lol, of course DON'T do that.

as far as nicotine satisfaction is concerned. it takes less than 10 seconds for the nicotine from a cigarette to enter the blood stream. it takes about a minute for an ecig

thanks for the compliment. manual definitely has advantages in general use. autos provide a better smoking simulation for beginners. i have been vaping for years and i still use both. for hands free typing, doing chores while vaping and at bedtime i prefer the auto. at bedtime because if i fall asleep with it i don't have to worry about rolling over on it and pressing the button with my body.

Looks like I have some research ahead of me before I decide what to buy and from whom. If anyone would like to PM me the name of a site they have had good dealings with it would be much appreciated.

unfortunately, the best cigar model may be the one in the video and it is an overseas vendor. shipping would probably slow and expensive compared to USPS shipping. smokeless image is my favorite vendor for auto batteries and cartomizers

Hi, could somebody point me to a good e-cig for a beginner. Also good websites (UK) I did have an e cig but it was cheap and tacky and i ended up with a mouthful of nicotine juice and gave up.

Try somewhere like Vape Escape or Safercigs.

I always suggest something like Ego Visions to start although I know some on here will suggest you go straight to a lava tube or similar.

Grizwald's juice on Vape Escape is pretty good.

My lava tube has been in the back of a drawer for months, I have a few ego c twists (650mah, 1100mah), I prefer the shorter 650 mah, the 1100 is just a little too long in my pocket, but it's not that big of a deal. I've been using the mini viva nova tank cartomizer and am pretty pleased with it http://www.virginvapor.com/collectio...ank-cartomizer

i have long held that the best ecig for the beginner is something that looks, feels and vapes like a cigarette. I still use that type half the time even tho i've been vaping over a year. I am sold on smokeless image for the best vaping, best quality, good customer service (including honoring battery warranties) http://smokelessimage.com/rewardsref...refer/id/7921/

the standard volt starter kit is $45. they have a 22% discount thru feb 14 with coupon code VOLTLOVE so your total including shipping is under $40. With about $15 of eliquid (which i recommend you get elsewhere) to refill your cartos you will be set for a month or so. After that you can expect to spend around $35 per month average to replace a pack a day habit.

If you miss the sale i can give you a year round 15% off coupon code.

After a few months you might want to try something with more flexibility and vapor, even if it means something that costs more, that might leak a little and that u have to fiddle with a bit. by then you will have gotten full use out of the batteries, they are warranted for 90 days.

these are 2 piece ecigs, the end that looks like a cigarette filter can be refilled. i'll share a recent PM to another beginner:
"yes, just refill with the eliquid when empty. the first time the new flavor may blend with the old flavor. you should be able to refill most of them 10-20 times at least, they gradually clog up and will accept progressively less liquid as they do."

It arrived yesterday and I'm already very happy with it, especially the fact that I can vape while driving to and from work. (I never smoke in my car because, well, it makes my car stink and nobody wants to drive with me.)

I'm not thrilled with the particular flavor I started with (don't remember the name), but it's certainly acceptable. The poster who recommended the site sent me some cigar-flavors, so I'm really looking forward to trying them when they arrive.

The weird thing is, the e-cig is so much better than I anticipated that I actually feel guilty while vaping. I feel like I'm "smoking" too much.

Having absolutely no experience with this, has anyone itt successfully used e-cigs to overcome their nicotine addiction, or has everyone just switched to feed their habit?
