Just saw this thread (I don't look in oot much...well ever really)

I looked into the whole e-cig thing in June. I found a local shop that mixes and sells there own juices made from all USA made ingredients they also have purity tested locally. I have a large distrust in anything coming out of china so that was important to me. I took my daughter in with me and bought a riva starter kit for myself and her and her boyfriend. They sat us down, explained how everything worked, had us sample a bunch of flavors to pick our favorite, etc. In all they spent about an hour on the process and have been very friendly/helpful since. I highly recommend finding a good local shop if that is an option where you live, then just starting out doing whatever they say and not worrying about the specific equipment choice at first.

end result is all three of us have not smoked since June and it hasn't been hard at all. I have quit using every method there is many times (I'm great at quitting for 3 to 6 month, terrible at staying quit) and this is the easiest by far. I don't have any desire to quit nicotine, just don't like the idea of killing myself and getting sinus infections because I'm doing something stupid, so I will likely never quit vaping unless good solid studies come out showing strong health effects. I have a biology degree, have read lots at this point and really don't expect anything will be found showing vaping to be more than minorly unhealthy. In my mind it is MUCH healthier than the cycling on and off cigarettes I have been doing for the last 25 years.

anyway, wanted to add my 2 cents to a great thread.

Yeah real easy so far. I started with a crappy disposable that I got from the local mall. Just kinda did it on a whim last year at some time, didn't work obv.

I have a Vtube mini now that I ordered from Apollo.

Welcome to the gang. A few of us have done quite a bit of research, but you're the first one of us here with actual credentials I think.

I had no intention of tapering down nicotine either, but I found that my juice was getting too strong every few months, so I'd step down the nic content. I'd get headaches and a bit sick to my stomach from too much nic in the evenings, so I've tapered from 18 to 6 mg juice over the last ~2 years.

I can definitely see that happening, largely because the convenience factor with the e-cig has me using it more than I would otherwise smoke. I could and may drop down on the strength in the liquid and still be getting as much or more nicotine than I was getting from cigarettes just because I use it more. I never used to smoke in the car, in the house, etc.

I stepped down from 18 to 12 mg on my last order. But im going back up to 18. I'm going up for two reasons: usage (about double my old rate of use) and flavor(the flavor seems muted and just different with this lower nic content)

Has anyone else noticed a difference in flavor when lowering your nic content? I expected to use more juice but not sooo much more.

2x eGo C Twist 1000 mAh
2x eGo C Twist 650 mAh

I will want to use a clearomizer tank on these for convenience and I have read good things about the Stardust and the Vision Mini ViVi Nova. The thing that I am not clear about is how long do these tanks and the parts inside will last? I believe the part that wears in the tank is called a "head" and this will wear and needs to be replaced over time. How long do they last? Are there any other parts that need replacing in the tanks? Also which of the two above tanks would you recommend for a beginner? And which resistance should I be getting?

Besides a charger and e-juice is there anything else I should include in my order? Any recommended online stores that ship to the US that carry genuine eGo C Twist's and all the other stuff I will need?

I will want to order enough supplies for 6 - 12 months of vaping as I am living in Thailand and supplies are hard to get here.

edit: oh yea, around how much e-juice would a 30 cig a day smoker go through in a week?
i suggest some cartomizers at least for when you are away from home. My experience is if you blow them out after filling and either keep them with a condom on the bottom or put them on a battery there will be no leakage. that is hard to guarantee with any other delivery system. if you were to use cartos exclusively you would go through about 5 a month but you can extend that with cleaning methods you can find on ecf. For occassional use and back up to your other delivery systems i would say get about 20 to last you a year.

2 twists won't be good enuf for a whole year. one of them is likely to break or get lost. I would want at least 5 batts to be safe. twists are manual. i would suggest at least one automatic. they are great for hands free vaping or to take to bed and it can be hard to fully cover the button light to stealth vape in a movie theatre.

I'm sorry, Indy, but imo auto batteries suck, especially considering that they're usually unsealed. I wouldn't recommend them.

I've been smoking PureSmoke. I paid $35 each for two kits so I have two batteries. But each battery only works with the USB charger it came with so I'm constantly searching for USB chargers and batteries and all this crap. It's annoying as hell.

Good news is I'm down to less than half a pack a day from two packs a day in a couple weeks. But the situation with these ****ing batteries dying on me all the time is driving me nuts. What would you guys suggest? How do you manage it?

I basically need to have a charged e-cig within reaching distance at all times. I'm a chain smoker (chain vaper now I guess lol).

Also is $35 for a kit + $20 for 5 vial of juice good? Each juice says 18mg and seems to last me 2-3 days.

900mah batteries will last you a day or more, or get a mod (eg lava tube) and some batteries for it.

read a lot of the old thread awhile ago and some of the first page of this today but mostly grunching.

I'm sure it's borderline offensive to some of you but I bought a couple disposable ecigs a few days ago. I tried Rio brand and Vapur. Menthol flavor for both and they were okay, so I'm going to try a kit.

There's 2 local smoke shops with starter kits, one has smoke nv and the other has blu cigs.

I assume these are low quality kits but probably better then disposable. Any thoughts would be appreciated because I'm much more likely to give these a serious go if I can just buy them, rather then order online (I'm in Eastern Canada).

Thanks

i checked out the e-cig forum. i'm not carrying around an electronic pipe in my pocket lol. is that what you guys are using? those massive things the size of small bananas?

i want something small that looks like a normal cigarette.

it seems like the best thing for me to do is just buy like 5+ batteries, a wall charger, car charger and just constantly be charging these things when the batteries die.

SumNewb

Check out Egos then. Small cigar sized rather than banana sized.

Ya those look good, thanks. Almost bought one just now on ecigsunlimited for $35 but then they tried to charge me $15 for shipping after I had put in my PayPal info. Shady bastards.

Where should I buy from? I'm in California.

Are you positive about this? The smaller you go, the less time your batteries last, both between charges and total lifespan of the batteries. Basically, the bigger the device, the less the batteries will cost you.

Yup.

I'm a mega vaper. I have a 4-bay and a 2-bay charger on my desk full of 18650 batteries (2xego capacity). I also have one in my device, two in my car, and two in my truck, all charged and ready. This is enough to ensure my gf and I never have to worry about being without.

I'm sure I could get by with much less, but the minor investment is worth the peace of mind.

Both canvape and happy vaper are in Ontario. Both have good equipment and excellent service. I think they even offer local pickup. I've used both frequently and have nothing bad to say about either.

Edit: In post 439 I make a list of what I recommended to another Canadian vaper.

i want to be discreet. perhaps the more i vape the less i will care what people think, but right now i care.

the ego or riva are about the size of a fountain pen, so unless you hate having a pen in your pocket it isn't an issue.

Some good reviews of the zmax (variable wattage pv) lately. As long as you keep it in vw mode and not vv anyway (it's pwm so hits harder than it "should"), and don't stack batteries in it.

For those who don't know, variable wattage adjusts the power output automatically, so whatever resistance atomiser you screw into it vapes the same.

Tempted, although it's pretty long. Might wait for a mini version.

My Vtube broke. The atty connector with the battery wires got loose and I used it like that until the wires came off. Since then I've been dropping a few drops of eliquid into my lip (I started vaping to quit dipping smokeless tobacco). It works perfectly and I think I'll just continue lol

Gross. But if it works, do your thing.

It's not near as gross as dipping tobacco, trust me. Actually pretty tasty and clean with no mess.
