I got credits for Newegg on all 3 of my cards (same login.) Yay!

Just ordered the $200 Amex GC's on the 2 cards that I hadn't yet done so. Free processing code EMSVCA and still have the free express shipping trial at the moment. My eBates 1% on the first GC purchase last month appears to have been clawed back, I read that using free processing/shipping codes can cause that to happen. Meh.

anyone have experience with "my savings" via their Amex homepage screen? It lists the offers you have fulfilled. It seems on the my savings page that reporting is a bit delayed. I have 4 newegg credits in my transaction history but none are listed under "my savings" yet, is this normal?

Those are savings from Amex Offers, not the Amex checkout promotion. So, yes, completely normal.

wow. since the checkout thing was "new" i totally dismissed that fact, was for sure thinking newegg was an "offer"

thoughts: https://www.creditcardcashflow.com/

get paid to add Authorized Users to your good standing cc's. read the faqs, saw a payout sheet, seems legit. Add a few AU to different cc accounts on a two month interval, get paid, seems alright.

If you are wondering. u add the AU, that card is sent to your home address, you activate it and keep the acct in good standing with a little bit of spending on qualifying cc's.

seems like somehow, they are making money by establishing better credit for people(AU's), they make money off that somehow and can then pay us(the supplier). seems fun.

I have heard some issuers can be sensitive to who you add as an AU. Amex in particular.

I have a question, hopefully someone can help me out...

I have about $25k in credit card debt spread over 7-8 credit cards. Most of the cards have 0% APR for a couple months then go to 25%, I think one is only 15% (Yay!). Is it possible to get the APR reduced? I heard stories of people just simply calling the credit card companies, and sometimes they are very accommodating and reduce the APR, has anyone had success with this?

In addition, I have somewhere around 60-70k equity in my home, so im debating on whether I should sell the house to pay off the credit card debt. Or if I could get the APRs reduced to a manageable APR. I'm confident I could pay them off withing 3-4 years, and not take as huge of a hit in interest. Thanks for any help in advance.

basically you can call and ask for anything you want.worst they can do is say no.

but if you have a high balance chances are they won't lower the apr.
if you have no balance and tell them you want to make a large purchase on the card but have other cards with lower aprs they might .

Here's a simple script (from Ramit Sethi) which I've read has had success with some creditors:

Quote:
You: “Hi, I’m going to be paying off my credit card debt more aggressively beginning
next week and I’d like to lower my APR.”

Credit Card Rep: “Uh, why?”

You: “I’ve decided to be more aggressive about paying off my debt, and that’s why
I’d like a lower APR. Other cards are offering rates at half what you’re offering. Can
you lower my rate by 50 percent or only 40 percent?”

Credit Card Rep: “Hmm...After reviewing your account, I’m afraid we can’t offer
you a lower APR. We can offer you a credit limit increase, however.”

You: “No, that won’t work for me. Like I mentioned, other credit cards are offering
me zero percent introductory rates for twelve months as well as APR’s of half what
you’re offering. I’ve been a customer for X years, and I’d prefer not to switch my
balance over to a low-interest card. Can you match the other credit card rates, or
can you go lower?”

Credit Card Rep: “I see…Hmm, let me pull something up here. Fortunately, the
system is suddenly letting me offer you a reduced APR. That’s effective immediately.”
And like borg says, the worst they can do is say 'no'.

My plan was to say something along the lines of:

"Hi, I’m going to be paying off my credit card debt more aggressively beginning
next week"

"My goal is to begin paying more towards my credit cards with the highest APRs, and not just the minimum payments. Since your card has the highest APR at the moment, I will be paying off yours first" "If you could lower the APR, I would instead choose to pay off my other credit cards with higher APRs, and continue to pay the minimum on your card"

Do you think a credit card company would be more willing to lower the APR, in the above scenario? I always assumed credit card companies wanted you to pay the minimum amount, so you pay the maximum interest over the term of the loan.

Yeah whatever, I figure it cant hurt. If I cant lower the APR's im probably taking out a home equity to pay them off. My intro APR's of 0% do not end for about 4 months, so in that time I hope to knock off around $3k, and also increase my credit score somewhat. Once that time comes I will be calling to try and lower the APR and ill report back with my results.

can i get some southwest companion assistance? I have done some research and I believe the following to be true, if anyone disagrees please let me know.

i currently have almost 55k points. I can get the wife on board with the CC and earn 50k after promotional signup bonus and then ~and additional 5k after spending or w/e.

So, the Companion Pass is 110k. If she transfers 55k to me and I then have 110k points in my acct, i qualify for SWCP? If i qualify and redeem, are 110k points taken from my acct?

As far as I know you would not qualify. A single account needs to earn 110k points. Also you don't lose the points it's just a milestone

you can't get the companion from transferring points

but southwest has 4 cards (2 business 2 personal) and you can get all 4.

i dont know how to get business cards ha. the one or two times i have tried it asked for like an EIN(Employer Identification Number)...something along those lines. help? or pm me if u have advice. id really like to get business cards (I am self employed poker player and have claimed so on my taxes for 10 years for what its worth(sick brag))

Guess if i want SWCP i will almost certainly need that second 50k signup bonus(business cc)

another question; in regards to southwest dining rewards and sallie mae upromise rewards(can even throw in united dining program)

So, at various restaurants(i have never spelled this word right in my life) you can earn miles/points, as mentioned above. It seems like all three have the exact same restaurants that qualify for bonus points/miles. Therefore, im pretty sure ive read that u cant take advantage of all three. For instance, if u have the same registered credit card with United dining rewards and SW dining rewards, you cant earn miles with both programs, correct?

what if you do have the same cc registered to all three programs? which program would receive the points, any idea? simply curious as to what would happen if i have same cc registered to more than one program

as for the programs themselves, i pry have to decide which is most valuable to me and go from there(use it). However, i'm out in the farms so not many qualifying places.

The last program yiu assigned the card to earns the points.

For EIN on business apps you put your SSN and for type of business you put sole proprietorship.

Hey JL just wanted to thank you, directly and indirectly because of this thread I finally broke 700 on my FICO. As soon as 3 old collections accounts that are about to expire disappear I should be well on my way to 800.

Thanks! Great tips here, wish I'd read the entire thread.

just put your social instead of ein

basically what you and your wife should do is one of you gets the companion pass at the beginging of the year (2 50k signups plus a little more spending)

then you're all set for 2 years. after 2 years do it again (or have the other person do it)

if you need more points in that time get another card.

it should be hard you can each get 4- and you can get them again every 2 years.
