Does fanduel cash out as a return to the cc or deposit into a checking account?

you have to play the money through but they'll cash out to paypal or send a check

dk says you have to get it refunded to the card first but there are ways around that as long as you're legitimately playing

Looking to book an international trip for the end of next month. Have never traveled abroad. Likely booking airfare through Delta so curious as to how much benefit a SkyMiles card would be?

There are a few different flavors of SkyMiles cards, but (assuming you don't already have some sort of status with Delta) I think all of them would get you some bonus sky miles for the purchase (like 2x), you'd get to board in one of the earlier groups, and a free checked bag (which most airlines already give you on international flights, but could come in handy if you fly domestic on Delta.)

FYI - the Delta gold Amex is currently offering increased sign-up points (50k) and a $50 credit towards Delta purchases until June 30th. So, if you think you want that card, I'd pull the trigger soon.

All of you who had Discover IT's before the deal may want to talk to customer service before spending a ton on it. According to some of the credit boards I frequent a lot of people are saying they were told they would get double and now it is apparently going to be for new accounts only. I'm guessing they were bum rushed by people who had the card getting setup and are fearful it may cost them more than they originally hoped (after all it was going to be a driver for new card users.)

I didn't have an IT so I jumped on board, but if you had one before this I'd get it from CS that you are signed up before buying stuff you might not normally buy thinking you are going to get 10% on it.

Edit: Yeah, doesn't look good. Discover did not initially have the only for new card members language on their site and now they do. I would say if you had a Discover It before June 1st they are going to go back on their word now.

I got confirmation when I called to have it activated, but that was only verbally and I have nothing in writing that says I will get double cashback. I'll definitely use it for my 5% categories, but I'm definitely a little weary about putting a lot of other spend on it. They will piss off a ton of customers if they don't honor the double cashback that they promised to those current cardholders that called in about the promotion. It really sucks that you won't even know if it worked for a year.

Some people on other forums have screen shot customer service saying they are enrolled in it who previously had it. My guess would be maybe Discover gives those people double cash back as they are likely way fewer than those who have something like you. Or they just screw everyone who isn't new and say it was always for new customers only. Clearly it's initial goal was to lure new customers (heck it got me). I just wanted people to be aware before they spent like mad thinking they were getting 10% or 20% cash back.

It's going to be my heaviest use card for the year and with MS I should be able to get some nice cashback. Sucks about having to wait a year, but I will live. Just wanted everyone to have a heads up on this.

Yeah, it's bothered me that I don't have any proof of being enrolled in the promotion. Was expecting some kind of email or something.

Wow, wtf? I got verbal confirmation and everything. Specifically asked and confirmed...would be pretty weird to call back and ask about it, but I was planning on using it super heavily and woidlnt be doing that without that double cash promo. If anyone hears anything, let us all know.

I would definitely double check. It sounds like from other forums its unlikely to be true for anyone who isnt new. Even if you got confirmation. Maybe you can complain your way into it.

Your best bet is to ask via chat and if they say you are enrolled screen shot it. Then if they don't double at the end of the year you can flip out on them with proof.

Wow insanity. If that is true I may just not use the card ever again out of protest.

My feeling on it is that if you were enrolled, you're good, but it wouldn't surprise me if they shut people down who go overboard abusing Discover Deals to MS.

CK scores 693 Transunion 705 Equifax
Got approved for a Discover IT with $1500 limit. Also have a Carecredit for $5000 I got 7 months ago
Is it worth it to hang on to my $500 secured card, or should I close it? I'm a little strapped for cash and it would be nice to have the $500 free

When was it opened? Is it one that can graduate to an unsecured card now or in the future?

Just sent a secure message to Disco customer service asking for confirmation that I'm enrolled for double cash back. I imagine I'll receive an email to go with the reply message confirming enrollment that will serve as proof. Then if they renege, I'll have some ammo to file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. CC companies tend to be pretty responsive to those.

I sent a SM asking when my double cashback promo will start. Hope to get something that I can screenshot. Without some kind of proof, I will pretty much only use my IT card for the rotating cats. 2% cash back is solid, but I get 2.2% towards travel with my Arrival+. And I'm not sure that the discover deals will count/won't be shutdown/etc.

Probably a dumb question in regard to Delta SkyMiles.

I was approved for SkyMiles Gold this afternoon.

If I can find a significantly cheaper flight via Kayak (or a similar site), I am still better off booking through them (two of the four legs are "serviced by Delta on the itinerary) than Delta directly, right?

The card offers 2x on miles booked through Delta or just miles flown with Delta, I guess is my question?

You would have to buy the ticket through Delta to get the 2x, but if the savings really are "significant," you're probably better off buying through Kayak. (Most people say that one skymile is worth somewhere between one and one 1/2 cents, so you could do the math to see how much more "value" you'd get by buying through Delta).

I value SM at 1.4c/mile, though YMMV.

Think they said they graduate in 12-18 months and I opened it 2.5 months ago.

It would be best to leave open, but it's your money, so your decision. I never opened a secured card when I started (re)building. It would be better to go ahead and open another card before you close the secured card; you want at least 3 open CC reporting to build your FICO. Perhaps a CapitalOne Quicksilver 1. They are pretty lax, and the 1.5% base cash back is decent absent other options. Then when the annual fee comes up for year 2, get a product change to the non-AF Quicksilver. Then, some months down the road from now (6, but you could do it sooner,) open up another slew of cards. The idea being to open up a bunch of cards to thicken your file now and let them all age together so that down the line, your average age will be solid.

I will be done clearing the Chase United MileagePlus Explorer spend requirement by the end of July for 55K miles, and I need some advice on getting another card with a sign up bonus that will be good for some free nights in San Francisco during a trip I'm planning to take in December. I applied for the MileagePlus card on June 1st and I don't know how long I should wait before applying for another Chase card. The Sapphire Preferred signup bonus is something I want to take advantage of at some point. I also just got the Discover It a couple weeks ago. My other current cards include (age of account):

USAA Mastercard (11 years)
Wells Fargo Visa (8 years)
BoA Cash Rewards (3 years)
Chase Freedom (8 months)
Amex BCP (7 months)

How many nights?

There's a couple of things that come to mind like Citi Hilton Reserve (2 weekend nights) Chase Hyatt (2 nights anytime) - but both of these seem like a waste of free unrestricted nights when there are better places to use them like Japan, France, Australia, Indonesia, etc. If you don't plan any travel like that they'd be fine.

There's the Chase IHG for 80k points, but I think the IC in SF is like 50k/nt. The Sapphire Preferred for 40k would almost be enough for 3 nights (15k/nt) at the Hyatt Regency. INK has a higher bonus which would mean at least 3 nights in the HR if you can get the card and meet the spend. I think the general guide line was blurry with Chase and included up to 3 cards in a month (link).

Airbnb is also a good option in SF. Check out the SF thread in EDF for info.

I don't know if Chase has a hard and fast rule on how long you have to wait before another app, but since they seem to have been cracking down on churners recently, if I really wanted the Saphire, I would take a break for several months, not apply for any more cards ( even from other issuers) and put a bit of spending on the Chase cards that I currently have.

Maybe wait at least until you hit your one year anniversary on the Freedom so that you will have established a little more history with Chase.

Got my secure message reply, took a screenshot as it will be auto deleted in 90 days and the content of the message wasn't in the email (hence, secure message, not sure what I was expecting.)

Hi Mrage,

Thank you for your message regarding your Discover account. I appreciate you wanting to verify the promotions you are enrolled into to better manage your account, and I am happy to assist you today!

After reviewing your account, I show we spoke with you on June 1, 2015 and successfully enrolled you into the Double Cashback Bonus promotion. That means at the end of your first year as a cardmember, we?ll automatically double all the Cashback Bonus rewards you?ve earned. If you?ve earned $50, you?ll get another $50. Even if you redeem some of your rewards, we?ll still double the rewards earned after the first 12 consecutive billing cycles.

Because this is a special promotion, you are not able to view your enrollment through the Account Center, however you can verify your enrollment with a Discover agent at any time.

I appreciate your business and the time you have taken to contact me today. Thank you for choosing to use Discover.

Sincerely,

Mason
So, I'll continue using it as my catch-all non category spend card. I didn't wind up getting the double cash in my last spree and my next best option would be my Cap1 QS at 1.5%. I'll still carry the Cap1 though, Discover isn't accepted everywhere.
