occasionally you will need to pass others on a sidewalk.
If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem.

It seems pretty silly to suggest you think it's fine to do less than 6' distancing despite our being told that this is the bare minimum necessary.

The people out crowding sidewalks and parks are exactly the type of self entitled narcissists that are causing the crowds you see in pictures.

It's been said that we need to adopt social shaming in order to slow the spread. It;s also been said that 2+2 has been ahead of the curve in understanding the problem we face.

Shame on you Howard.

I feel like people should treat going outside like there's a virus going around that could kill you but I dunno I guess that's just me. The # of people outside today was ridiculous(I noticed from my fire escape)

Germany already went from Double Down (...) after 3 days (new infected vs old) to only double every 9 days now, after 10 days of real shutdown now (17 days, somewhat).

USA is just a bit bigger, and (no politurding!) a bit slower.

I estimate that the USA will get the curve to at least slow down significantly within 8-12 days from now.

Exactly what this article said could happen:

Everything I ever wanted to know about the topic!

I thought this part was particularly interesting/scary:
Quote:
Even a patient simply sitting in or beside the bed will create air temperature differences from their body heat. A higher air temperature directly above the patient's head (or body, if lying down) will create convective air currents that may entrain potentially infectious air from neighbouring spaces into the higher temperature column rising air above the patient (Craven & Settles, 2006). Patients lying in bed, breathing or sleeping, may produce exhaled airflows that can reach the airspace of a patient in the neighbouring bed

I feel like people misinterpreted it as “you absolutely should take every opportunity to exercise outside multiple times a day for the duration of the lockdown.” I’ve never seen so many people out jogging or walking. I understand that a lot of people are at home and not in the office, but damn!

I feel like some people are out trying to boost their immune system to fight the virus. Seems like a pretty bad decision. You shouldn’t be out there trying to get in the best shape of your life right now. Run up and down the stairs inside your house or something.

This is what I’ve been observing from inside my work van the past 3 weeks....

These people are out there even on days when it’s 50 degrees and raining. Normally, you wouldn’t see one person....

revots indicates he lives in the suburbs and passes by people "occasionally." That seems rather different than the picture above.

Come on Howard. If it's fine for him, and fine for you, then surely it's fine for people in Manhattan, assuming they step aside.

I don't doubt it's fine for you. But for you to suggest that what works in your neighborhood will work in the neighborhood of someone you don't know is incredibly elitist. Not to mention it goes against everything we're being told by experts.

I've noticed far more people walking/riding bikes in suburban areas than usual. Why is this unexpected? The majority of people are off work or working from home and the businesses they'd normally patronize for entertainment are all closed. It's unrealistic to expect people not to venture outdoors. Furthermore the government of my state (Minnesota) has clearly stated that walking/cycling and other outdoor activities are permissible.

I’m interested to see if in 8-12 days you predict it’ll take another 24 days or 36 days to get the curve down when it’s apparent it didn’t do it in the next 8-12 days.

Eh, leave out masturbating also. I'm 70 years old after all.
Always think differentiated.
(I just wank it off after this post, am half your age)
It ain't all black and white, like easy drawers... (no politurding, i know...)

- If you don't yet like to read books, start liking it.
- If you got hooked on news now, like me, take 12 hours off from internet and TV at least twice a week, and take a long walk without your phone.
- Get back into online-poker, but with 200 buy-ins minimum, to not get stressed at all
- Get enough steaks and fish for zinc, D3 and Omega3 (same old, same old)
- Text people you would like to talk to on phone
- maybe pray
- Cook more meals (I used whole-grain noodles first time ever, due to low stocks in discounter. Tomorrow I try Almond Milk for the first time ever)
- PM me your adress, and I promise to ship one Viagra (just kidding...?)
- Meditate (only 5 minutes, twice a day)
- Yell at the sky, like "I'm mad as hell, and won't take this anymore"
- Tell a mod to ban me for 24h again
-... Or 24h ban, and 20 points, if you think I'm overdoing it here
- Try thinking of stuff to stock up on, that most others forgot so far. Like Alcohol and home-grown weed, for example.
- Rent out your dog, if you have one. Good reason for loners to still go out without bad feelings.
- Buy stoxx of all the **** that soon goes way up again
- Talk to your government, that they should make a poker-site like svenska-spel in Sweden. Half the rake for players, and your conutry only takes all rake! Win-win-win, since losers lose less, winners win more, and USA takes A LOT more taxes then just 20% (here it's 20%). Please at least contact a Democrat for it. (did I just politurd again?)

- If you are too isolated somehow, PM me or others, and we chat a bit
- Try a new hobby, like taking one photo at the same place in nature everyday. That'll get you into the sunlight each day.
- Erm.... go for a new start-up firm for baby-sitting online, quickly.
- Or... go buy some smallish useless **** at wherever a shop is still open, and tip 5-10$ to feel good
- Start listening to the band named "Tool" on youtube
- Follow what youtube tells you, if you click auto-move on, after listening to the tequilla-song (always good mood stuff)
- Tell your kids and/or grandchildren to chill the **** out, without asking them to call you on phone. Then they surely will do regularly!

Getting tired, beer empty.
Might get back at this tomorrow.

Stay healthy, and don't stress too much.
Afterall, USA still #1, or #2, at least.

I might seem to lack respect a lil bit here, but I don't!
I just avoided politurding, while sending my message, anyway...
And then ( I think), I had more and better new messages to cover up. Right?
Signal strong, noise hardly, right?

It isn't unexpected. It creates crowds. When everyone decides to go to the park it's a problem. Have you not seen any of the pictures of crowds in parks, or at beaches? Do you think it's ok for 20k people to go to the beach as long as they've been advised to stay 6' apart?

everyone trying to find a loophole to do what they want is why we are totally ****ed.

Fevers started to decrease in the US on March 20, and the effects of that should start showing up in the death toll in the coming days.

I might just be projecting again, but I feel ya!
Know you from marketplace, you're a sick crusher...
You maybe somehow even slightly enjoy the stress of this virus secretly, don't ya?

Just stay alone and be "clean" for at least a week, before you meet 60+ people. I visit my olderish family once every 2 weeks only now. 8-10 days before, I only do what i love the most anyway. Grind online, isolate, and only shop groceries savely. Washing hands etc.

There is not much else that we can do, except leaving masks for the health-care workers.
We likely all soon get bad masks in supermarkets, anyway.
Cheers!

"OK" from the perspective of most efficient way to stop the virus? No... However, I also believe the measures the government would have to implement to effectively slow the spread of covid19 are far too draconian for Americans to acquiesce to. In countries with more authoritative governments it's feasible.

Wow is this a serious question? I would say as long as you aren’t near anyone else, you should be perfectly fine. If you are that scared... just wear a mask and you should have near 0% chance of getting anything.

I find it odd people are so worried. I would be worried of getting virus and passing it on to others like family/ older people. However if I get coronavirus and somehow die, it was my time (natural selection). I feel the #s are really not that bad in regards to dearth. Sure if you are overweight/ smoke / have a weak immune system... prolly not ideal to get virus however this virus prolly doesn’t kill 99% of the people that get it (maybe we have to exclude some old farts and immunity compromised people) but honestly worry less.
