Did anybody see they came back from a break before the match started and Tracy Weber seemed to be smiling at Belmonte and had her finger on her chin like she was flipping him off. That's what it looked to me, I cracked up

All those 279's must be getting a bit annoying, but nice bowling lately!

It's crazy how much little differences can affect things for me.

5 days ago: 783 series, didn't miss the pocket all day. Every miss was either a 10pin, 4pin, or 7pin (2 solid 7's as a righty). It had a lot of potential for even more. That was the best I'd thrown the ball in a while.

Yesterday at the same house: 528 series, haha. 2nd shift after a league that threw right down the middle. I couldn't keep the ball to the right of the head pin. 8 splits and 2 chopped spares along with some stupid adjustments.

633 on house last night. Couldn't string more than three together. Ended up throwing two balls that I haven't used all season.

Can you be a decent bowler bowling palm down? Palm up, even with a 12 lb ball, puts my elbow in full lock, is that normal? It doesn't feel great.

It depends on your definition of decent, but doing that is going to make it a lot harder.

Locked elbow is good, but it shouldnt hurt. You probably have some mobility issues to work on if doing that hurts. As strong as you are, there's no reason you shouldnt be able to throw a 15 or 16 lb ball correctly imo.

I can't even straighten my arm because of tennis elbow. It usually kills for the first 15 min or so. I think I am going to try those elbow warmer things.

I think I'm just terrified after that video of people flying down the lanes attached to the ball. Will give it a shot.

Not that strong imo, my lady friend bowls faster than I do.

DYEL anymore? Regardless, based on what you were doing several months ago, you're probably stronger than most of the good bowlers I know. I know several people who bowl as fast or faster than me who are not nearly as strong. Anyway, higher ball speed doesnt necessarily make you a better bowler either.

If you want to get better at bowling, start with these two things:

1. Fix whatever is keeping you from bowling with your palm up. Maybe its in your forearm, upper arm, shoulder, upper back or neck. Figure that out and get the arm working properly.

2. Go to a pro shop and get fitted for your own ball.

Do that and never again be terrified of the thought of that video.

That can probably be fixed.

598 last night, which was the last night before rolloffs.

Our team won 30 out of 35 points. We were in 2nd place, 21 points behind the 1st place team, but did not bowl them. The 1st place team won all 3 of their games, by 9 pins, 6 pins and 4 pins. If the team they were bowling hit one more spare in each game, we win the third and make the rolloffs. So close

Went to practice this afternoon. Some friends happened to be there bowling already. I never keep score when I'm practicing, but they convinced me to join them and bowl a few games. I didn't wanna bowl for money either, but they were talking some trash so I had to. Shot 266, 290, 242, 221. Made $120. Finally running good, LOL.

617 on Thursday night. Had 6 strikes and 5 10 pins game one. The beauty of wood lanes in action. Shooting at one of the 10 pins I had a huge chip get taken out of my spare ball.. Luckily it should be fixable for relatively cheap. Getting too close to nationals for this kind of stuff to be happening...

738 Thursday. 288 2nd game. Totally talked myself out of 300. Got up in the 10th determined to not go through the face. Was crushing every shot but knew it was gonna jump on me any second. Threw the first shot a drop harder than usual and wanted to hit light, and ended up crushing it. Threw the 11th even harder and hit very light. Oh well.

I seem to be making more adjustments than necessary in this position, but still don't really feel I am overthinking things. I have 9 300's so I don't completely lock up physically or feel all this uncontrollable pressure. I may think too much about how to throw a perfect shot instead of just doing what I've been doing with even less thought, if anything.

Anyone else run into this problem?

I don't believe in over thinking. Bowling is a thinking game. It's like when people say, "You're trying too hard". You're supposed to be trying your hardest! It takes quite a bit more focus on your game, but I think it's great to be thinking about making moves as you're striking instead of waiting to make a move off a miss.

The only thing I don't get is when you say you wanted to hit light. Why is that? If you see something in your ball reaction that makes you think you need to make a move then you gotta go with your read. On the other hand, you don't wanna be making moves just because you're afraid your reaction might go away suddenly.

I've made both mistakes plenty of times though. Sometimes I don't trust my read and the ball over hooks when I don't move and sometimes I make a little move too soon and leave a weak 10-pin or something. I have twelve 300's. I'm happy enough with that, but I think if I made better decisions in these type of spots then I could shoot 800 again. I've only done that once. Or I could just blame the old wood lanes instead of myself, haha.
