I think some of the people criticising the makers of this video think guys they see catcalling random women are jerks and losers, and I assume all of you think the guys who get angry when she doesn't respond are aholes, and you all must think the guy who follows her is a real problem.

Right?

But you're still mad at the people who made the video and want to argue with the white knights.

Hard to figure. People really hate the idea that they might be judged badly, even if it's by someone who will never even know they exist. That's my theory.

That what I was saying about most of the video. The dude following her would be actually scary, and the guy who went on a little too long borders on that.

That is a fair point.

Had it been the guy following her and the guy going on for too long and worse, then that could've been a really devastating video. Not one that I would want to watch.

10 hours is a lot of walking in one day, but still if one or two threatening encounters is to be expected, that's a lot.

Too much attention? Harassment.

Too little attention? Omg why don't they approach me.

Women want equality. Well then next time you hold the door open for me, bitch.

I don't mind being a gentlemen and I'm all for equality, but the irony of the feminist movement is laughable.
Feminists who demand equal pay in the work place and still expect men to pay for dates are pretty audacious

So many people seem to have a problem with women having a choice. This women, like many others, doesnt want to be harassed every 5mins in public. This doesnt mean you cant talk to women in bars or any other straw arguments you can come up with. Also many of these interactions becone significantly less friendly very quickly when the woman doesnt respond kindly.

Im sure many of you have been to countries which have street vendors everywhere. It gets annoying constantly having to say no despite how 'nice' they mght be or friendly you know they are only wanting something from you. So eventually you just keep your head down and ignore people. Now imagine that those street vendors are 6 inches taller than you and shouting at you with their groups of friends or following you for 5minsand you are by yourself, and if you do tell them to **** off they start to get aggressive and call you a slut and a bitch, or dont take no for an answer. Now imagine this happens all the time. If you dont feel like this is a problem or you cant relate just because it doesnt happen to you then i dont know what to say.

Question to the guys hating on this video.

1. Have you talked to any girls about it? what did they say?

2. when girls (either ones you know or others) say that they completely empathise with this video and feel really threatened on a regular basis, by stuff just like this... Why do you think they say that?

3. If these women come from all over the world, not just specific cherry picked streets from NYC where men might also get harassed, how does that make you feel?

4. if lots of people say they are unhappy about something, are they just wrong?

Catcalling is obviously a problem and borders on harassment. It also looks like its a simple money grab. I'm also pretty sure the maker of the video didn't try and create an honest picture of what happened. On the other hand, if these were the worst cases in bad neighborhoods, NYC aint got nothing on us, that **** was pretty tame.

She was wearing normal everyday clothes ****tard. Should women have to wear a burka to not get constantly harassed by douchebags?

Also while I am here, Hardball, it is well known amongst non-douchebags that telling a woman to smile is ridiculously demeaning and offensive. Good to see you learned something this week.

Why is it a bad thing it's raising money? It's not like they are hiding it... The idea is to raise awareness nd raise money.

It's like complaining about a famine fundraiser for being a "money grab"

There was a pretty interesting documentary not so long ago where the creator actually found most of this catcalling to be a cultural thing and advised women to talk to them instead of ignoring them. I'm totally down with the cultural part but the other advise was pretty laughable. The creator of the documentary was a woman obv.

@rugby
If what I read was correct, it is pretty bold to donate to an nontransparent thing like this where the money will be used to buy new laptops and video camera's and hosting servers to keep spreading awareness. Explain me exactly how that business model works.

Because when you raise money to fight famine, it's pretty clear where that money should be going, that is to buy and deliver food to people. But when you raise money to fight street harassment, it's not so clear. You might end up with a lot of PR people filling their pockets and not so much result.

I dont know who these 'dudebros' are that you have invented but if you can't think of a single reason yourself this 'question' really isn't an issue that is important enough for you to worry about.

No it isn't.

I know where my money should go when I donate to a famine fundraiser. Obviously some of it gets spent on admin costs but I have a clear idea of how much is appropriate when I donate and I'll research a charity to see what they spend money on before I donate.

Giving some people money so they can buy gear to 'raise awareness' is very wishy washy.
