It probably got ignored because the first part makes no sense - there is no stake where you suddenly get more winning players, as you go up stakes the skill level of the opposition also increases.

Second part "playing well" is a relative term IMO, to a noob a lot of players might seem to be good at a 10c buyin, to a world champion even a $300 buyin might be mostly stocked with fish.

Hey, I'm looking at getting into Sports Betting a little, mostly on English Football. Does anyone have any advice/links to where I can get started? Bareing in mind I know very little about Sports Betting. I had a look on the 2p2 Sports Betting forum but it just looked like a load of jibberish. :<

Thanks.

thus the "official dumb questions thread"...

However I guess I should rephrase...

Currently I play 3$ 9 players sng's and basically go into autopilot mode since the majority of players aren't..... decent lol (getting cute with your play only hurts you at these stakes) and I guess I was wondering when those days will be over.. or what sng stakes will simple poker pay not be profitable..

My advice would be to play cash if you want to make fancy plays. SNGs are renowned for being repetitive (and as a result easier to mass table).

If you are the BB and everyone folds/limps to you, and say you hold something sort of marginal, it would make sense just to check right, and not raise to try to steal since you're oop? With what cards would you raise from the SB or BB (I guess this depends on how many limpers there are)?

This sounds like the dumbest question.

But can someone explain the process of raising in No Limit Hold Em?

When we are raising we are doing so by twice the amount they bet for, correct?

What about when 3-betting,

For example, 3 players see a flop. Player one bets out 5 dollars, Player two has to AT LEAST raise by 5 dollars, so the Minimum he can raise is to 10 dollars. Now the action is on me, do I have to put in at least 20 dollars to consider it a raise?

I know this is newbish. But every time I play with my friends, we always or I raise an extra dollar here or two dollars there. Since we play shorthanded it doesn't take much time for the little raises. Thanks!

the raise has to be at least the amount of the previous raise. so in your case, player 1 bet 5, player 2 raised 5 more. you'd have to raise 5 more (to $15 total).

I swear I read on a website that you had to raise at least the previous bet size. That's what was making it confusing. But if player two raised to 20 instead of 10. Then I would have to raise by how much?

So player one Bets 5, Player two raises to 20, the Minimum I could raise to would be to 35, correct? If I wanted to three bet... If so, the I totally understand the concept.

"At least the size of the previous raise" is the most common rule, however some casinos use "at least double the previous bet".

There are lots of variations of rules used in some places but not others, if you are playing a somewhat serious house game or you have players who could get upset over a conflict you should determine a set of rules you will use before playing. And if you are playing in a casino you should be aware of their house rules.

Just watched an episode of from the ground up which sorta clarified this...

but they mentioned that your range should widen in a multiway hand vs in a headsup situation. why is that? if I'm in the blinds and I'm facing a EP raiser and someone calls before me, why does my range widen vs getting tighter?

How do you evaluate a table?... what are the notes you put against each players in the table?.. Would you always classify player styles before getting active in the pots?.. i'm talking about online play.. Would you call a player who limp in with K6 offsuite in $1/2 NLH and then calling the raise for $8, if the raiser is from last position?

Please help me to understand how a good player analyze a table.. thanks

So I got 600$ roll from a 50$ deposit from playing .25-.50 6max NL and some .5-1 my question is I want to try and get a 25k-50k hands sample how do I do that?
Ive also read about PokerTracker and am interested in it as I would like to see my pre/flop/turn/riv aggression and stuff like 3b% fold to 3b% 4b% etc. should I wait to be a winning player to buy Pokertracker4?

You set your poker client to save hand histories and then you play 25-50k hands.

PT and HEM are always good investments regardless of which stakes you play or how good you are. If you are serious about improving, you should definitely get it. After you have it, import your saved hands and you'll get your stats etc.

Hi guys:

I have this problem in one hand i play yesterday (live poker)....
I concluded that these were the that combos He had...

Combos against those we lose

88 (6) 55(6) 22(6) 66 (6) 79o-79s(16)

38 combos

against which we gain
A8s-A8o (4) A6s-A6o (4)
8 combos

We need a minimun of 36% of equity to make a profitable call

So 8 vs i lose/46 Total combos = 0,17xx.

The question is ¿ I need 17% or more of equity to make a profitable call??

Thanks
