Yes, you have to rake up enough and the bonus is usually released in increments.

I have $6.99 in my account. I want to build this into a bankroll. What should I be doing/what games should I be playing to have the best shot at building this into a bank roll?

Thanks!

More of a forum question than a strategy one, but I have some T$ on PS that I want to sell. Is there a place in the marketplace to do this, or how should I go about it? I just didn't see any listings in the market place, and was having trouble figuring out a good search term to use to find results. Thanks for any help, and sorry if this is the wrong place, didn't want to start a thread for this since it was such a small question.

Which one is better, Full Tilt with Rakeback or PokerStars with a 100% deposit bonus of $50 to grind 2nl?

Hi,

I've got a question about odds.

Let's say that I'm involved in a pot with any 2 cards, against vilain with any 2 cards.

What are the odds that flop / turn / river miss both of us ?

Also, have you any good advice to give me regarding odds, some good book giving the most common odds to learn ?

And another question, still about pot odds.

Let's say I'm still facing against 1 villain.

Flop comes and is monotone, for example 3 clubs.

I don't have any club in my hand. What are the odds that villain has no clubs too ?

PS: sorry if I made 2 messages, I could not edit my last post

As far as I understand, in live games you play less hands per hour than online. Does this mean that a very tight online player should be a bit looser live?

Well, since online and live players alike are dealt the same number of hands per hundred hands, it shouldn't make any difference.

However, because of the quality and style of play differ between online and live, your adjustments thereto are going to be substantially different.

In a book I am reading at the moment the author says there are only three reasons betting:

1. For value
2: As a bluff
3 Capitalization on dead money.

1 and 2 I understand.

But surely 3 is exactly the same as 2. When we bluff we are doing it to pick up the money in pot, what other reasons is there.

Can anyone give an example when we bet for reason 2 and we are not doing it for reason 3 (or vice versa).

Thanks.

Whatever it is, stop reading that book.

Value - Villain will call with worse hands.
Protection - To make it incorrect for villain to chase draws.
Bluff - Villain will fold hands that beat us.
Semi-Bluff - Our hand has equity, however we'd be happy just to win the pot now.
Information - Villain's reaction tells us where we are.
Deception - Merge your range, yo. Shania loves you.

Reg is short for regular.

Depending on context it could also be "registration".

FYI - I'm pretty sure that is Balugawhale's ebook.

I believe protection is covered under value. Semi-bluffing is covered under bluffing. Information is listed as a side-effect of betting but not a reason for doing so.

Hey guys,

I have a question that's been bothering me for a while and wonder if you can help. I play exclusively on Stars and with the fpp's I get I play the 210 satty's to get $T which I then turn into cash by playing sng's. Whilst playing these satty's I started to wonder why I have to play satty's to get a % of my rakeback, instead of getting the full amount. I'm Goldstar right now and I understand this is something like 27% rakeback, but if I'm only cashing in say 33% of these due to variance, that means I'm only getting 9% rakeback which seems ridiculous. Am I missing something here? As I understand it, if I were playing on Tilt, whatever rakeback deal I had, say 27% as in the above example, I would actually get ALL that rakeback in cash, whenever they pay out each month. If this is the case, doesn't that make it far better to play on FT?

Hope you can clear this up for me.

Yeah, you have this completely messed up.

Rakeback on Stars is generally figured by assuming FPP are worth $.016 per because that's the rate at which you can cash them in for bonuses or concierge at the highest value.

If you cashed in 100% of the 210 you would be getting $.052 per FPP ($11/210). Since you're cashing 33% of 210 FPP tournaments you're actually getting $.017 per FPP (($11x33%)/210).

I'm not going to go through and recalculate your rakeback equivalent, but since $.017 is greater than the standard of $.016 this means that if your 27% rate listed in your OP is accurate then you by converting your FPP in this way you are actually doing better than 27%. (You should still consider the opportunity cost of having to spend time playing the 210s but most players ignore that anyway unless they're playing a huge number of satts).
