Keep reading the forum.
If you're more interested in cashgames, look at the microstakes cash sub-forum. If you like tourneys or STTs look in those forums. Pay particular attention to FAQs and sticky threads, as these are a goldmine of useful timesaving info.

Would it be worth it for a winning micro stakes player to make a 2 hour drive to Canada to play on poker stars rather then play on some of the US poker sites?

At what stakes would it make since for a player to make a two hour drive to be able to play on poker stars?

My hours at work get cut pretty bad threw the winter time & I need a little extra income. Plus being about to do that on poker stars would be great. And no I don't believe I'm a winning player just yet. Just looking for some advice and motivation to get better at poker. Not that I need it. =)

At some point it would have to be worth it bc the US sites don't usual have tables running at more then 2/4. So a simply no for someone who can beat the 5/10, 10/20 tables couldn't possibly be true but again someone who beats those kind of games would of moved after black Friday.

And while im at it - is there another way, than counting combos to determine what % of rangę do certa in cards make? EG villa in opens AT+,77+,KQ. IF 3-betted into he continues with AQ+,JJ+. What % of hands he fold? This example i just made up, ITS about method . Alp that comes to my minę is counting combos. I have not checked equalib yet, due to lack of computer.
Thnx in advence

HM2 and PT4 both have positional stats/options for the HUD but you didn't specify which you use. If you can't figure out how to get them to show you should post in the tech support thread for the HUD you use in the Commercial Software forum in the Internet Poker forum.

It's precisely that: counting combos. Equilab does that for you.

Hi guys! This is probably a dumb question to ask but do you know how to look your hand histories in HEM2 without having to look at the rest of the "session summary" info. I try to work on my mental game and watching the amount I win/lose after each session is pretty detrimental to me but I don't know how to hide those informations.

Hey ToTcH i know what you mean, just dont have the bb/100 or ev at reports and you can see tha hands but you cant see the results of your session, maybe just the results of the last 250 hands but that no problem.

Oh so you just go Reports -> Sessions and then remove those columns I see it now. I used to go tu "Active Sessions" and I think that you can't remove it there. Thanks for your answer.

So I've been playing $2.50 180sng's and I've noticed that when I take the accumulator style -> taking edges early game and riding it out to the end, I final table a lot more and even take 1st quite handily.

When I play the survivalist-blind stealing and giving up small edges style, I always go busto because my stack is too small to do anything with.

I should be finding a happy medium, but I think I'm a lot more geared towards the former. Any thoughts?

You need a program like Holdem manager to have a HUD.

Is it better to play mirco stakes rather than play in online tournaments? I've played in some and actually won two and cashed in about 5-6. Only asking because I wanted to be well rounded in all aspects of NL texas hold em.

I've also only have been playing for two months, and have read the super system and Dan Harringtion's tournament strategy Vol. 1 and have sorta of combined the two philosophy's, where I play a tight aggressive style, and let the hands come to me,and use my table image to my advantage. I just feel something is missing always in my game, like I'm missing a vital pillar in my poker game, I just dont know what it is.

I posted this in the beginners NL stats thread but it's been a few days now and still no reply...maybe someone reading this thread can help me out

"Re: ** Official Beginners NL Holdem Stats Thread **
How can I get a program or something that tracks my hands like this? Seems pretty important to evaluating your play and seeing where you need to improve...I live in Maryland so I am playing at betonline and believe I don't have any other options...I don't think that PT4 or HEM are allowed to be used at betonline. So am I just out of luck as far as getting a program that will track all my hands?"

What is a prop? On the big games on tv they keep talking about props (dwan, ivey etc). Are these prop bets? Why do they make them? To make the cash game higher stakes? Thnx

"Prop" usually refers to a proposition bet. e.g. "I bet you 1k you can't do 30 push-ups in a minute".
On HSP they had other "props" that weren't propositions in the strictest sense. They were betting on the random textures of flops. e.g. Dwan might win $200 for each heart on the flop, while Ivey might win money for clubs. This did actually alter the play of some hands. Since Ivey would win money if clubs came on the flop, he'd sometimes limp with red cards, as then he's more likely to see a flop (as opposed to if he'd raised) and the flop would be more slightly likely to contain the suit that he's betting on. The flop texture prop bets were one of the reason why there was so much limping on HSP. There was almost as much money to be made from seeing a flop and winning the prop points as actually winning a hand!

In Harrington on Online Cash Games there is a sentence which reads, "With eight players to act behind you, what's the chance that a hand that's better than 95 percent of all hands but worse than 5 percent is actually the best hand at the table." (p 8)

What does he mean? Is it not a contradiction? How is something better than 95 percent of all hands but worse than 5 percent. Is it vague? Am I missing something? Is this a stupid question?!

if you assign all hands a number where 0 is the worst and 100 is the best, you have number 95

After ~30k hands, I see I'm not making any profit or very little by opening small pp's and small suited aces from EP or MP, should I just muck em?

Maybe. Depends on who's to your left, particularly button and blinds.
