limp strategy in SB? +ev? limp strategy in SB? +ev?

I play raise/fold from sb raising something like 47% of hands but I'm wondering if it would be more +ev to develop a limp strategy so that my sb vpip would be around 100%. Using a RNG to limp 50% of the time and raise 50% of the time with any of the hands I currently raise and limp all other hands, would this work or lose me more money do you think?

100% pry too much, but limping strategy is definitely +EV. People are generally way overfolding at micros though so opening is still probably better.

I see this move fairly often where I play (currently 2NL 888 Zoom). My standard response in BB is to raise to 4 or 5BB pre then cbet pretty much any flop if they call. I get mad folds this way.

You need to be strong post flop to limp SB I guess since there is no pre flop if you're limping and BB is checking. You could limp the top of your range I guess in order to get more action post flop. For the bottom half of your 47% though I can't see how it's better than just raising and getting folds.

I'll limp in the small blind under certain circumstances:

When I have <20 big blinds.

When the big blind is particularly passive preflop.

When there are antes.

----

Sometimes all three conditions are met. I limp any hand that I don't think is worth a raise here.

Sometimes none of these conditions are met. I don't limp anything here.

When the conditions are somewhat met, it's time to play poker.

When I railbird the high stake cash games I see a lot of blind vs blind limping. So it does happen...

Limping some junk and then check-folding with no equity is more "profitable" than raising and getting called. As an example, I'd rather limp(-fold) with Q3s and possibly see a flop for 1/2 a blind than raise to 3x and then check-fold most of the time. We don't do well by bloating the pot when we're OOP with weak hands, ldo.
A solid strat has a mix of raises and limps in the SB. Most of your strong hands should be raised, but you can have a few limp-reraises to protect the limp-calls and limp-folds.

Yes I see your point Arty. Sometimes I get stuck in ABC/2NL thinking where all that matters is the EV of your hand .
