Hey guys, I've played poker for about 3 years now. Offline real money, online i've played pretty much only play money. I've done well overall...but i'm thinking about playing online for real money. Any advice or tips that you could give me, or other new players to the internet money play. How does the game change compared to the play money games. What sites would you guys recommend? What is a good blind recommendation to a player like myself? Remember i'm new to this and i want to make a bit of money as a good hobby. And do you suggest its better to play ultra tight while playing online in fear of losing to some donkey? Hope you can help.
Thanks

First up. You need rakeback online.

Next up you need to join all the best poker forums and get busy like you are doing now.

Then you need to think about whats important to you and where you want to play and what stakes. Omaha, Holdem? 25NL 50NL..... 10NL? A chitty site with crap players or somewhere decent like PS, FT against lots of grinders...?

Or maybe you are just happy taking a no deposit bonus if your in a country that will let you get this.

Then its a case of getting yourself pokertracker 3/hem.

The play games are ridicoulsy bad. You can become a play dough gizllionaire just byt understanding how side pots work. Cash and SNGs will be much harder, if you're prepared to invest a lot of time and higher variance poker then online is where its at. If you cant take 1 bad beat in a night let along 3 or 4 then stick to live... at least they bring the drinks to you.

Read the stickies on here, I'd start at low stakes and get the feel of how online play is.

just get Rakeback for Full Tilt Poker and start there @ 2NL, or maybe even 5NL depending on how big your deposit will be. make sure to follow proper bankroll management and learn all the new stuff like terminology etc in the stickies on these forums. concerning how you should play @ the mircos, read :

If you would like play online No Limit Holdem cash games (particularly 6max) then try this:

Read all the stickies in the micro stakes forum.

Read all the stickies in the small stakes forum

Read this (3rd post down): http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/32...thread-340027/

Look into getting either Poker Tracker or Holdem Manager

Download Pokerstove (it's free at www.pokerstove.com)

Post hands in the relevant forum (probably microstakes) and ask questions after people respond if you don't understand something or whatever (You can post hands in this forum also if you want.)

Read the hands that other people post and read the comments others make and try to make your own comments and then read the comments people make about your comments. Ask questions as needed.

Maybe read some books like "No Limit Holdem: Theory and Practice". Also some I haven't read that gets mentioned "Harrington on Cash" and "Professional No Limit Holdem".

You can look into joining training site(s).

If at some point you decide you want to you can look into hiring a coach.

If you're going to join a site where rakeback is available make sure you signup in the manner you need to in order to get rakeback.

If you're signing up at a site that offers a deposit bonus deposit enough to take full advantage of the bonus. (If you can't deposit that much yet then play at a different site until you can deposit enough and then switch if the bonus is still worth it to do so.)

Good Luck

Good luck!
