Probably taking a shot too high anyway. Ever notice how it is always the AK hands that get overplayed? There should be a note attached with this hand.

I hate the shove on turn into a flush board without holding the other black ace there. If your ace was the spade then fine. Don't think you will knock any NFD off there, or any 10 out set. So besides possibly drawing dead already you can't hope to fold out the 2 biggest threats to your hand. If you can't protect your hand and you could be behind drawing dead then ask yourself why not check behind to avoid the CRAI which the made nut flush would probably play there.

Nothing wrong with playing 5NL, work on the game move up in steps.

This seems to be an anything goes sort of thread. It's about grinding up your bankroll, not about one form of game in particular.

Hands like this are what keep me playing. Although, to be honest I was a little surprised to dodge the 8.

Cool, well in that case.

Played 9 $1.50 45's tonight, placed once for 4th and once for 7th out of 4 final tables. Have now played a total of 15 and down 3bi's, feel like i really screwed this hand up, ended up 4th in this once but its the first time i've gone into the final table in quite a commanding position so dissapointed that i managed to screw things up, looking at it I think i should raise like 10k pre to let me commit on any flop vs the other big stack if he comes in, don't have a clue what that guys flatting with so i figure that my chipstack is still kinda healthy if I c/f the turn, gonna post this in the mttsng bit for HA i think.

I took yesterday off but I returned today to get about 930 hands in. I started off on a massacre, but then it sort of slowed down and I lost some fairly big pots. I still think I played pretty well though. For some reason I had a few people just hand me buy-ins donking off with 2nd nuts when it was pretty obvious I had nuts on the river. Finished up just under 5 buy-ins.

Just had to put this in there as I know you NLH guys rarely see them

For the PokerStars micros grinders, for those who have a decent sample of the 235FPP turbos, what's your conversion rate? They seem about as soft as a game solvable by reading a chart can be. Tried two just now, got KK cracked by suited rags on the bubble in one but cashed the other.

It's weird having variance in your rakeback but I hear this is the most profitable option by a mile.

Well, it has been going okay for me. My bankroll is over $400 now, which is a great barrier to break, hopefully can now push on. Hardly played today but won 2 BIs in about 300 hands. Biggest pot I lost was 10BBs. Had a fairly big donations though. This was a flip, but he had been open shoving tons and AK is miles ahead here vs range.

against my better judgment, went back to the tables and immediately lost a BI running AQ into AK with two aces on the board

who minraises AK preflop on the button? i don't know!

I'm nowhere near busto but at this rate I'll need to move down. I thought not letting downswings stop me and playing through them was the right strategy (they even out, don't they?) but that just made it worse. A week into this month and every day has either been a tiny profit (a few bb) or a huge loss (BI+). Even when I have a big win, I end up losing it before the day's over and then some. It's like being in a hole I can't get out of. One step forward, three steps back.

I know this is completely standard but I really don't know how so many people are able to slog through it. I know I can't.

I keep saying, if a BI troubles you, you are playing too high. Also if you keep winning small pots but losing bit ones then that *might* indicate you are getting married to your hands in spots you should be mucking (or it just means you are on a downswing). Something to note, results do not "even out". If you are below your BR you cannot play on the assumption that wins will start coming to negate your losses - you may go busto well before this evening out occurs. If you are uncomfortable either a) take a break to get over the downswing or b) move down to regain confidence in your game or even better yet c) both a) and b).

I've actually been running into this quite a bit on stars but into KK/AA, not sure if its them misclicking when they get really excited or not.. a few people will 2.5 every hand from btn,

say tightish player opens btn 2x, i have QQ in BB, 3b him like I would normally and he 4bets me, I think he is only 4betting b/c his minraise looks weak and thinks I'm weak, I level myself into jamming.. which I normally wouldnt vs a really tight player and run into AA

I decided to try the morning session and put in 800 hands. At first I started off amazing, I was running well, people were playing like donks and I was up 6 buy-ins. Then I ran a few badly timed bluffs, cards didn't fall my way etc. Ended up feeling a bit tilted and quit up 3 buy-ins, could be worse....

A nice way to start off my session.

This is where it started to go downhill. A bit of a stupid hand from me. I thought if I turned 2 pair I could crack villain's hand and then when I got my flush outs I decided to make the call as it wasn't a big bet. Then I decided to bluff river, I hate when I get put all in as I just have to muck.

It felt like I had amazing odds to call pre-flop but I thought I could be drawing pretty bad. I don't know now about the play, but i'd obviously have flopped the nuts and scooped a big pot. I just don't know if it's worth it when SB is only playing 100bb.

Put me down for up just over 3 buy-ins in the last 600 hands. I had a few sweats admittedly but ran good in some spots, also a few tricky spots some of which below. I've been running at about 15bb/100 over the last 8k hands. Things are going well and I just hope I don't start to run bad or start tilting

Flop was pretty standard. I decided to bet the turn because I was willing to get it in there if villain raised due to my equity. I still managed to get it in on the river so all's well.

        Turn: ($10.29) J (2 players - 1 is all in)

        River: ($10.29) 8 (2 players - 1 is all in)

        Final Pot: $10.29
        CO shows T J 7 9 (a straight, Seven to Jack)
        Hero shows 7 8 9 Q (a straight, Eight to Queen)
        Hero wins $9.78
        (Rake: $0.51)

This hand was really tough. I actually considered just folding flop, but I figured i'd peel as I had a backdoor flush draw. The 3 was kind of bricky as far as villain's hand and with NFD + gutshot straight draw and an overpair I decided to get it in as a 70/30.

Haven't posted in a while, have been away on holiday/vacation in Florida for a few weeks and have only just got back to grinding again, which is why in the graph below my hands are so few.

Going through my worst downswing that I can remember really, its not just never being where I should be EV wise, but when I have a made hand I get no action. I know everyone says volume is the key to getting out of a downswing, but it's just so depressing, it actually seems nowadays that if I haven't lost any money at the end of the day its been positive.

Iv never been one for donking much in spots that im not 100% comfortable in dealing with a reraise.

I put him on 99-AA + FD overcards after he bet the turn, the river paired the board and the flush draw got there but if he had AA/KK/QQ I would expect him to bomb the river and I would be unsure what to do. I thought if I lead out for a 1/3rd(ish) pot, due to the fact the board paired and the flush came in hes going to have a really hard time raising any hand for value that isn't a full house/flush and I get to showdown cheaper than if I checked. Also stops him checking back hands I have beat.

That was my thoughts, although im still not happy with it. I usually 3bet pre but OOP with hands like TT/JJ/QQ in some spots vs EP raisers I will just flat.
