And some live venues (Texas) are set up with large stakes, deep stacks and antes. There seem to be some new variants coming about, too. I'm rambling now but I'm just saying the game is obviously much smaller than it once was but it's by no means on life support. Online for an American is infinitely better now than in like 2013. Infinitely. You couldn't even get money on and off sites easily back then lol.
Texas is the place to be if you are a live poker player in 2023. The blinds don't really matter as the games are going to play way above whatever blind level is being spread. Oklahoma is 2nd but the Texas rooms have put the hurt on that.

Vikrant wasn't the CFO, and he didnt come to America to ask about multi-tabling.
Fun fact, Vikrant knew nothing about poker, couldnt tell you what a flush was.

What was it like battling in golf with the newly minted billionaire Michael P. Noori?

Worst Poker ruling youve ever seen?

Did you ever feel sorry for taking money off a really bad problem gambler?

Most creative ways you've seen people try to cheat?

I had another sick night online. Going to be shot taking 50nl soon and then getting my feet wet around here outside of NYC at 1/2 in Monticello or Mohegan Sun. After that, depending upon how it goes, I may just take a trip down there myself.

Wait 50nl is shot taking for you and you wanna tell us how games were online 10 years ago and how much softer they are for you? That's amazing.

I'm playing again for the first time in a few years. I have more money available for this and I'm moving up the ladder, getting ready to play live, etc. I'm sorry you're so upset about my opinion on today's games being soft but that's just how I and some others (even in this very thread) see it. I also watch online and live poker, study hands, take notes, the works. I'm seeing the worst punts ever. It certainly isn't a personal attack against you or anything.

People will try to start an argument over absolutely nothing these days. That's what's amazing.

Don't take it too personally. That's kind of his M.O. around here with everyone.

You posted something I think is completely wrong in every possible way and I'm not allowed to disagree with you?

Of course it wasn't a personal attack by you,I didn't say otherwise.

We understand you disagree with me. Now, moving along and not hijacking the thread any further...

borg is 100% right

it's absolutely insane for someone who is playing 1-2 live and shot taking nl50 to claim how easy the games are

it's nothing personal either - just an incredibly unaware post

lots of winning high stakes players from pre black friday probably couldn't beat nl2 right now without getting coaching and engaging in some serious study

i include myself in that group - I genuinely don't think I'd beat online at any stakes right now if I just jumped into it blind

it may be easier now than it was pre-covid but not at all compared to pre-black friday when the economy was crushing it and everyone was playing for the first time and thought they had what it took because they saw the movie rounders

it was an era where a regular person would casually deposit $500 and sit down and play nl500 and see how it went just like the random garbage players you find who sit down at 1-2 live and have no idea what they are doing

those days are over - they go broke so fast now because the field is so good that they are gone in a heartbeat and either quit online entirely or drop down to microstakes

I never played pre black friday. I was doing something entirely different with my life back then. I said I started playing for the first time 10 years ago. I also made it clear what stakes I was playing. In my realm, this is the easiest it's been to win so far. I have no experience with mid or high stakes but hopefully when I get there I'll continue to find it easy (I know I won't). This is all just me, though. I've never had a truly adequate amount of free, uninterrupted time and money to sit and work away at this. Now I do.

But I definitely wasn't looking to start a big argument or debate. Totally not worth the time or energy.

edit: lol @ "because they saw the movie Rounders", though.

People coming from online to live always think players ranges are much wider than they are. Going from 6 to 9 players you’re up against what they are repping. At least half the day regs in my 10-20 game literally only raise late in the hand if they have the nuts.

Vikrant 100% came to meet a group. They wanted feedback from high volume players. I might be able to find his business card somewhere. Im not 100% sure waht his title was I had no clue who he was this was prob 20 years ago. There is ZERO reason for me to know that name. Lolol.

One time a big tipper fish reg had like 6000 in hundreds stacked in one skinny tall tower. On the river he started sliding them forward (obv bet) and they toppled forward into the pot. I sad call and tabled my hand. He then went into histrionics saying he didn’t bet and just knocked his chips over. Floor who he kept greased ruled in his favor obv.

Nah, but I will show them some respect and not push every edge.

Not creative but two Indian guys were supposed to kick each other under the table when one had AA (plo) for a min raise and whip saw. They kept ****ing it up and arguing with each other angrily in Hindu or whatever. We all knew they were trying to cheat but didn’t care because they were massive losers in the game.

Not really. It was basically a draw but in prize fighting ties go to the champion. That’s the way it should be. You have to take the title. If Francis wins he becomes the linear heavyweight champ of the world. You gotta win that outright not back into it.

He came to the US to talk to players. He was in charge of marketing. You could have explained how many tables you played and he wouldn’t understand, except that it meant more rake. I was pointing out that his intention was not to understand “how you guys played so many hands”. I was there.

How about Noori?

We had email correspondence several times afterwards, maybe he was forwarding it to someone else.
I also got the invite to Mike sextons New Year’s party at his house! That was fun, degens and unlimited Dom!

Noori is hilarious to golf with. He once hit a ball that was like 99.9% out of bounds 2 fairways over but he wanted to go look for it and it must have bounced off a tree or something because he found it and he screamed at the top of his lungs across the dead silent course while others were trying play quietly “EAT **** ABE!!!!”

this is where the disconnect is and why your post was so unaware

that's such an absurd impossibility to you that you thought I joking/exaggerating

i was not, if anything i was underselling just how awful the average player was in what is today considered high stakes

and yes, a lot of the espn televised poker was under the premise that if you "watch the pros on tv and you too will become a good player"

again, i'm not joking - it was an era where people got exposed to and "learned the game" from watching tv which highlighted action poker highlights, people watched on tv and were like "wow he is so good there he got that bluff through" and then they go sit down at nl500 and try to bluff a guy with a vip of 9
