IOTA seems to be a possible good idea backed by questionable people when put against the open source generally accepted principles:

http://www.trustnodes.com/2017/09/27...reum-developer

This plus the lack of tact and ability to refute criticism in a measured way towards the MIT team would raise enough red flags in traditional VC work to stay away. Having 10 years of experience with "open source protection" seems to go against the whole value proposition of crypto assets in general.

$2 billion market cap to $12 billion market cap in 2 weeks? Just because of a Microsoft partnership? The company that investors have been indifferent about for the last 15 years? I was considering buying some iota a couple months ago as a hedge in case Tangle ends up being the technology that wins out, but this is a little ridiculous. Is iota even being used for anything yet?

Holy IOTA! I managed to get a very modest position @ $1.62 (still can't withdraw from binance). I've been looking to get a little more but not being able to withdraw to wallet and the price going ape**** made me sit on the sidelines. I too bought just as a hedge, but from what little I know and read I'm more a fan of other cryptos. IOTA feels nefarious.

This entire month feels like 1999 internet stocks. Just throw a dart and make money. Pure speculation and hype.

Looks like IOTA also broke binance. Haven't been able to log on for hours.

Would be nice to have a bitfinex account as it appears IOTA is trading 13 percent cheaper there.

edit - Ah, maybe it was because of broken binance

Kinda funny that NEO dropped when the news was "only" that it had a partnership with Microsoft.

I think we need to start an IOTA thread :-)

Kinda pissed. I went to get a piece but I can't even get any. ****inex no US and Binance doesn't work. Also, what happens when you get some? You just have to leave it stored on an exchange? I dunno **** about ****, but I like the sounds that it doesn't link to exchanges well because "it's different".

****inex is probably trading IOU's. Can you actually even withdraw the ****?

You can buy it on binance in the U.S. and I set up the IOTA light wallet and managed to get a few coins withdrawn from binance into it as a test (wallet seems to work fine so far). This was a short window when volume was down and withdraws on IOTA were back to being allowed. When I saw my withdraw had gone through the next morning withdrawals had been suspended once again so the rest of my IOTA is still on the exchange.

Nick Johnson's article was a shallow piece of criticism.
I agree the team lacks tact and communication skills, but if thats the worst and if you see what they have achieved and the partnerships they have, its mind boggling.

So today difficulty has MASSIVELY dropped on equihash coins, not sure if this is just related to the nicehash hack (or maintenance, or whatever is causing it to be offline) causing a large pool to drop out?

Look at these numbers I'm getting for my rig's specs on whattomine:

-50%(!) difficulty on BTG, big decrease in zencash and zclassic too. Sibcoin has to be directly related to nicehash as well since X11 can't be that popular a algorithm to mine outside of nicehash randomly switching to it.

Its up 175% on the week.

This is basic market trend, such parabolic growth is doomed for a steep correction.
Still UP 175%! on the week.

There is very little discussion of XRP ITT these days. Anyone here have thoughts on why it's price is so flat compared to most other coins?

Because it's not a real cryptocurrency and individuals can purchase it really only to speculate.

Its got the most potential out of any crypto, if you believe banking and global systems will fail (much like most religious bitcoiners do) then this is not want you want to buy into. If however you are a sane individual and believe in the technology and that banks will eventually adopt it for cheaper transactions than XRP is for you.

Why is it garbage? I read a marginal revolution article the other day saying it was prob the second most viable long term after ETH due to potential adoption by banks.
