How painful is it to watch BTC rise against everything? I mean surely cheaper **** should outperform!

Disclaimer.. I own BTC and ETH, but recently moved a bunch of BTC into ETH. I'm still up on trade.

I said it before in thread but more confident now.
Funfair. Try out there games on blockchain testnet now: https://showcase.funfair.io/ . Gambling big industry and growing, want to rival playtech ~2.9bil MC, compared to Funfair 99mil MC. CEO is Jez San, found of PKR.com , made starfox, been in the industry a LONG time. They have a London based team of 30 staff rising to 60 currently, that is serious. Have benefited BIG from ETH price rise as haven't cashed out theirs yet, raised at $300ish: https://etherscan.io/address/0x4e9bb...b0444ddf10889c

Most other ICO seem to be young dreamers with good ideas no way to execute plan. This team has lots of experience and been very careful every step of way with regard to law. They believe can expand online gambling to countries/states currently not allowed because of different laws with regards to betting with tokens (to the user they may not realise, USD wrapper). They can undercut the price to produce games for all the big casinos, near zero down time as are going to be updated in future so 100% is hosted on blockchain.
Seriously, this is my amazon.

I hold 21 alts and while all of them have gone up vs the dollar except one (Nexus), only one of them has gone up vs BTC (Nav coin which I only got a few days ago so that hardly counts). Quite the opposite usually. No way to know what the future holds, but for now the best play seems to be putting the vast bulk of your crypto funds into BTC and holding, especially with these endless forks jumping into the top 10 every month. BTC is to crypto what Texas Hold Em is to poker. It's what everyone is into, and there are millions of new players who are loving their newfound gains and will be loading up more/telling more people to buy in the near future.

That said, if I had to pick some alts to go for based on word of mouth and very limited knowledge, I'd go for mIOTA, Nav Coin, Stellar Lumens, and Monacoin.

Nav is the only one of those I own, I think it's very promising.

This is probably more of a BBV post, but they won't understand my pain.

This is from Kraken and shows my Eth balance on October 25th last year, just before I dumped nearly all of my Cryptocurrency to use as a down payment on my house.

Had I kept the Eth, I could have waited a year and paid cash for the house...

Sorry bro that's horrible. No way you could have known.

Does anyone understand why Cardano is up 85% today? Can't find any news about it

To anyone that is holding stellar lumens (XLM):

Would appreciate you taking the time to look at a website that I am involved in building, lupoex.com. Any feedback you might have (positive or negative so long as it is constructive) is especially appreciated.

Lupoex.com is a portal to the stellar decentralized exchange. While we have lots of future plans for the site, for now, its main function is as a real time trading client for the stellar decentralized exchange. Because transactions on stellar take an average of 5 seconds to confirm, you can perform trades on the network in real time.

Additionally, lupoex also supports basic wallet functions like viewing your account history and sending payments.

Pauly -

I think the best way to sum it up:

If you are long, or bullish on crypto assets in general (which it doesn't really sound like you are) you should want to be accumulating BTC in your trades. This would mean selling alt / btc pairs for a higher price in BTC, or more satoshi than you originally paid.

If you are just speculating and fomoing with presumably weak hands (which it sounds like) I think you would be better off trading fiat pairs - i.e. USD/BTC (Coinbase / gdax) USDT/BTC (Bittrex, Poloniex, etc) , USD(T)/ETh and taking profits and losses in USD / EUR / your currency. This is because you aren't sold on crypto in the long run and you won't have the discipline to hold through downturns.

Hey there. Well there are certain altcoins that i do plan to hold for a long time as i believe it will rise up. However there are certain altcoins that i want to daytrade... such as buy at 5 and say sell at 7 for example.

I do not want to do any btc with usd or usdt buy/sell trading as i dont have enough funds to buy that much btc. Thus i know people here would buy btc at 6k... then sell it at 7k. Then say wait for a dip, then buy it again at 6k etc. The thing is most people agree bitcoin will only go up so if you keep looking at the highs and lows etc... well i think its more better to just hold bitcoin.

I mean even if you buy 1 btc, thats a lot of money for most people and if it goes up 1k, yes you can sell it for 1k usd profit. But 1k increase is a lot for bitcoin. I rather buy coins that are under 5 dollars and even under 1 dollar as a lower price coin can potentially 2x, 3x, 5x a lot faster than bitcoin. I would mainly be holding certain altcoins because i believe it will only go up... though i dont know how long... and daytrading certain coins that i notice have lot of swings such as going up and dipping etc. Well of course i understand accumulating more btc part. But the usd part is where im confused because a trader who has been trading a while told me usd is the most important thing to look at.

Enough funds to buy $100 (for example) of alt, but not enough to buy $100 of bitcoin?

You're using a lot of words to say you you think alts will outperform bitcoin. I don't suggest you day trade. To quote Tone Vays, "The market isn't there to make you rich. The market is there to take your money. If you don't know how to trade, don't trade. Buy and hold."

That said I'm pretty sure it's altcoin season.

I somewhat like the idea that I’m just doing my share of the accounting in the system as I don’t keep track but my mining fees and coins mined are roughly equivalent in value.
I've got 6 1060s atm and with the price increase I'm now making ~$11 per day before power costs. Just switched pools so numbers aren't exact. Break even in terms of $ is now below 4 months. Really no time and effort involved, I check the rig occasionally from my phone to see if its still mining at full speed, no problems yet. I spend maybe 15m a day checking it out and seeing if another coin is more profitable. Plus with it getting cold it also has value as a space heater .

Can someone tell me the best sites for altcoin exchange? I have an account at bittrex and was going to send btc there. But then i read in another forum that you need to get verified first... is that true or not? People mentioned they cannot withdraw any btc fro their accounts because verification takes way too long or they don't even respond back. Thus i don't want to send a few btc to bittrex and buy altcoin then sell it back to get btc... then cannot withdraw.

Can someone here tell me if bittrex still has these issues? And what is the next best site after bittrex? I have an account at bittrex for a short while but never made a deposit yet via btc or anything.

Also im planning on investing around a bit more than 10k or so on these altcoins.

Just got into Bitcoin/altcoins earlier this month. What a month to get into it. Just a tad late.
And then there was this morning. I woke up and decided today was the day I'm gonna dabble in some IOTA. FML! I ended up buying at all time highs ($1.62) when it started the day just over a dollar. I had no idea when I woke up it would be up over 50%. Who cares I say. I'm hodling for the long term on all my coins.

Anyone here buying substratum? I got me 1000 coins the last couple days. Seems like a promising gambool.

Also lost a couple litecoins by sending them to my hardware wallet bitcoin address like a noob. It's possible to get them back but reading google results on the process I'm not even going to bother. I just bought more @$72 and wrote them off. Stupid they can even allow you to send to an incorrect address. That's the true free market I guess *shrug*

i have litecoin as my second holding....mostly because i dont seea reason that its worse than anything else....but i do contemplate the governance of these coins. and I dont think opensourced and democratic will ultimately be successful. democracy is a mess...ill put bank on bezos over a democracy anyday.
