coinbase is worthless.. it never allows you to buy. This means plenty of people are still locked out.

Gonna be a really interesting year for bitcoin. I never thought for a second that bitcoin would not rebound after dropping big. Im still waiting for the US gambling sites to start taking bitcoin. There has to be pretty good odds of merge or bovada taking them within this year.

Idk if it was intentional, but the fact that there are few enough bitcoins that they could hit 1$ and 100$ each within a few years is pretty smart. Bitcoins could have the same mkt cap and be worth .1 each. I think people be less interested in that case. Seems like 500k worth of bitcoins have been sold in the past few mins.

There was a buy order for 4,000 coins at $100 an hour ago taking down most of the 5k wall of resistance to >$100.

mtgox did not accept my request and said i failed their AML verification. have any of you relocated ex-pats for poker been approved on mtgox? did you just use your US info instead of Mexican? i sent them notarized lease, utility bill (without my name on it), notarized mexican bank statement showing address, notarized FMM Visa (tourist), and also a notarized letter of reference from my mexican bank stating i wasnt involved in any kind of suspicious activity.

they say theyll accept a cell phone bill or an internet bill, which should be easy enough to put in my name. just seems weird they wouldnt accept any of the documents i thought would be more "legit". so any ex-pat advice would be cool for those of you who don't have a homebase in the states. in the meantime, i'm going to change the internet to my name and have it sent in. just weird they say theyll accept that, and not anything else i have sent

I live in Belize and was AML verified on Mt. Gox, but this was back in the very early days of Mt. Gox. I actually don't recall the documents I had to provide.

I think people were talking Litecoin in this thread right? It's busted out bigtime in the past day, at 1.49 right now on btc-e, I think it was 80 cents in the past couple of days. The main reason seems to be that there's an API feed for LTC trading someone found (not running yet - https://data.mtgox.com/api/2/LTCUSD/money/ticker ), so people are anticipating hot times when/if Mtgox starts doing LTC.

3% increase per day clearly sustainable.

To be fair, it's probably still got a ways to go before it all crashes. Like ~1999 I would guess.

If there ever was a bubble, it certainly is LTC. It could be quite beneficial for Bitcoin, moving all the dumb speculators there and keeping anyone with sense behind.

Yeah I don't see how Litecoin is viable, it has all the negative aspects of Litecoin but none of the commercial support that actually makes Bitcoin worth using. I'm pretty sure most Litecoin users are the people who go "I wish I had bought Bitcoin at $1 !! Oh look, here's something exactly like it and it's a $1 !!".

Definitely it's driven even more by speculation than Bitcoin is.

It takes even less speculation to drive the price up as well. Faster blocks is the only advantage I see, and designed to get lots of people to try to mine it. Distributed mining is an advantage for bootstrapping, but Bitcoin has already passed that phase.

BTW I think if a bunch of crypto-currencies try to come in and start taking marketshare from Bitcoin, that's probably ultimately bad for Bitcoin and crytocurrencies in general. It will change how Bitcoin is framed in the media (crazy new concept, a new internet currency, blah blah) to just "the most popular of all those gimmicky fake currencies".

I think competition is a good thing. It would be harder for government to target multiple cryptocurrencies, over a single one.
