US government took 50k cash from him. apparently not only do you have to declare money when you enter the united states with over 10k cash, but when you leave the USA with over 10k you have to fill out a form as well and drop it off. the airlines though doesn't give you this form. you have to find the office that has it at the airport. my friend had to wait a year to get the money back after spending like 5k for a lawyer.
Your friend was being foolish and should know better. There are plenty news articles of people driving to the wsop get pulled over for speeding, the cop sees the bank envelopes in their glove box, searches them, and seizes the money for no other reason but it might be illegal, even though there is a perfectly reasonable explanation.

I know people who’ve had tens of thousands taken at home games. They were players and didn’t break any laws. They were offered 60% of their money back or they could go to court. Almost everyone takes the 60% because going to court takes more time and money.

I’m sorry but you have absolutely no idea what your talking about. If you wanted to transport crypto to the wsop there are so many different ways to do it where it wouldn’t even exist in the car with you and even if it did the cop could never find it or know how much you have.

Jeff Sessions has vigorously increased civil asset forfeiture at airports. If you are not a national, its become extremely risky to carry cash through the airport. Its a directive that he's been behind as AG and it is very very real.

lol. i have more money in more safe deposit boxes and casino players banks than 99% of people on this site. Ive paid taxes as professional gambler for decades and took piles of cash and chips between dozens of casinos in many states. ive never once worried about asset forfeiture. HAHAHHAHHAHAHAHHA. this is tinfoil hat crap. only a child OR CRIMINAL is going to the trouble of acquiring a joke "currency" that can't be used anywhere and fluctuates wildly to avoid INSANELY RARE asset forfeiture.

Why do you need safe deposit boxes if cash is so safe and easy to transport? Insanely rare? What about the 300mil in player money that was taken by the US govt from full tilt? Govt seizing poker players funds isn’t rare at all. It’s happened to me multiple times and has came close to happening at TSA. I pay taxes and have deposit boxes if that even matters. Once again you have no clue what you’re even talking about. You hate bitcoin, I get it, but go spread insults and misinformation somewhere else.

It’s not a statement. It’s a question. Once again, take your misinformation and insults somewhere else. People like you are ruining these threads by destroying the signal to noise ratio at an astounding rate.

I embrace constructive debate and arguments. An echo chamber isn’t good for anyone in this space but misinformed opinions and insults over and over have no place itt.

I think beta opens in a week and only for five states, most notably California, my state isn't one of them so I haven't been following the exact day it opens super close.

I'm a robinhood user and it's going to be much better than coinbase in almost every way. The most notable example I can think of is robinhood auto imports your trades to turbotax which will make my life much easier.

These are not things to be bragging about.

Keeping money in lots of safe deposit boxes and player banks has to be the stupidest thing one can do. Enjoy having all that money being inflated away when the sole purpose of governments is to inflate away the value of its currency. You sound like the typical old live nit grinder who can’t put his money in a bank or invest it because he didn’t pay any taxes on it and has to work the rest of his life because he doesn’t know how to invest it or take risks. But you say you pay your taxes ??? Double fail.

Playing poker professionally for decades is also a sad and terrible waste of human talent once you have enough capital to let it work for you. No wonder you are so bitter. Every old nit live grinder hates life. It sucks the life out of you.

This joke currency you talk about that wildly fluctuates if you only put $1000 one decade ago when it first started trading. You would have close to $200million today. I don’t think people mind that it fluctuates wildly when it has created the most value in history compared to any other asset by a large degree. But whatever big amount of dollars you put in your safe deposit boxes lost at least 20% in that same time frame. Hmmm, I wonder who has the joke currency.

Whenever I see limons nonsense I just laugh because I know that dude basically kisses ******* and sucks dick in order to get paid at a silly game. I mean really, who in that situation wouldn't be raging mad all the time? Poor guy.

Limon why don't you short it? Put your money where your mouth is... aren't you some sort of "big time" gambler? Hopefully it doesn't go as bad as your little ge wager.

Apparently he is heavily involved so must be doing so, here's a quote from him about himself in the third person (from another thread).

I have a question about The Lightning Network vs PoS (Proof of Stake). From my understanding PoS is the future. Are the 2 comparable? And if PoS is the future is investing in coins such as Dash, NEO, OkCash etc coins that are PoS a good idea? Or is Bitcoin just going to adopt Pos after LN?

I'm still a noob trying to better understand. Thanks

no way BTC goes PoS, not for the next 3 or 4 years at least. By then, it will be dead.

It will be more hybrid in the long run. Proof of work for important stuff on main chain. And less secured transactions on a higher layer.
At this point bitcoin developers have no incentive to work on changing something that has been proven to work when they can do so much stuff off chain without risking the main chain.

There's so much room for improvement with the current system and all the interoperability between chains projects.
