The good news is that they didn't ask me any nosy questions and they didn't express any reservations about cashing it. The form they had me fill out was a standard one they use for all customers. The bad news is that they estimate it will take about two weeks to complete the process. But, it's not that big of a deal tbh because I don't need the money anytime soon. When the funds show back up in my checking, I'll know it's good and not going to get jacked again ... hopefully.
Well, better late than never, but with my bank (a credit union), I have to go through a foreign check collection process to cash checks outside of the US. It took a good while, but the funds finally did reappear and should stay there:
Requested Check: 05/08/2014
Processed Check: 05/28/2014
Received Check: 05/30/2014
Cashed Check: 05/30/2014
Filled out Collection Form: 06/02/2014
Funds cleared to my account: 07/12/2014
It took 65 days or 2 months and 4 days from soup to nuts to get my money, but I suppose all's well that ends well. Of that 65 days, Carbon was responsible for 22 days and my bank was responsible for 43. My wife forgot to sign the check and I didn't know about needing to fill that form out so next time I can probably save 3 to 5 days.
